I really enjoyed this installment of the Spellmonger series. There were many new characters to enjoy and a fleshing out of old ones. I got to see just what the Spellmonger had been fighting for in the previous books and how he had changed in the process. The noble life doesn't seem so perfect any more, as I saw just how much work goes into it and how it kept Minalan on his toes from start to finish. Cant wait to see what happens next to the simple Spellmonger.

This entry is mostly works building, and I was still enthralled. It's rare for me to not get a bit bored and start skimming.

From the superb magical story to the mesmerising voice I cannot recommend this series more highly.
I have the next in the series ready to start and await eagerly the rest in the series on audible!
Another stunning tale of arcane wonder; guaranteed spellbinding. Narrated by John Lee in his usual enthralling range, with only the occassional vocal crossover.
Good story well read look forward to hearing more of the adventures of the spellmonger
Thus is the third book in the series and a real let down. We spend the first 70% of the book setting up Minalyns new estate. With a big battle to finish off the book. It achieved nothing.
Yes it was enjoyable and heart warming and tear jerking but the goblin war took a huge step back so we could help the Mage lord set up house. Just a waste of a good series.
Unfortunately this is where I leave this series as the rest isn't on audible. But I'm not sure I would bother listening to the rest if they were.
