Publisher's Summary

In Victorian London, Alice, the wife of scientist-explorer Langdon St. Ives, is murdered by his arch-nemesis, the hunchback Dr. Ignacio Narbondo. St. Ives and his valet, Hasbro, pursue Narbondo across Norway, contesting Narbondo's plot to destroy the earth and, later, efforts to revivify Narbondo's apparently frozen corpse. In the process, St. Ives gains access to a powerful device created by Lord Kelvin, which allows St. Ives to travel through time.

Excellent narration of a classic JPBlaylock novel

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend it to those that enjoy James P Blaylock novels. It is typical of his portrayal of the quirkiness of the characters.

What about Nigel Carrington’s performance did you like?

Nigel Carringtons was well cast as the narrator. His voice and presentation matched the nuances of the plot perfectly, not just a narration but a performance.

Genre Defining Neo Victorian Sci-Fi;

What made the experience of listening to Lord Kelvin's Machine the most enjoyable?

The tale is a wonderfully complex interweaving of time travel and tested character of imperfect heroes. Furthermore Mr. Blaylock writes action scenes with amazing precision, frenzy and humor.

Nigel Carrington read with impeccable style, giving each character their own tone and cadence.
