Publisher's summary

Veiled from her previous existence as a gifted angel, Tess is now a mere mortal growing up in foster care with her autistic foster brother, Dorian, and a twisted foster sister, Agatha - whose main goal in life is to torture them both. Tess' life has been dull and average at best; but all that changes with one look. When she inadvertently gazes into the eyes of the most popular guy in school, Alex Preston, Tess sees a glimpse of her previous existence. Uncomprehending, Tess wonders what those memories are and why she now feels like she knows Alex better than anyone in this world. More importantly, why is he haunting her dreams? Dreams so vivid, that they blur the lines of reality, awakening a slew of inexplicable paranormal abilities she didn't know she possessed. Frustrated and confused, Tess lives a double life...one where Alex has a girlfriend, and Tess is a normal high school girl. And another where spirits, visions, and dreams are true. Is she going crazy, or is she secretly dating Alex in her dreams?

Really Good Story!!

Any additional comments?

Very well written Young Adult/Teen paranormal book.

I didn’t realize this was the second book in the series when I started it. Although I don't really think it makes a difference. Since Tessa doesn't remember anything you are learning right along with her in this book. This book can absolutely be read as a stand alone story. The author does a fantastic job weaving explanations throughout the storytelling giving you everything you need to know about the world she has created.

I love the concept of a whole different type of existence before birth. Not just an afterlife.

Very well written, entertaining and enjoyable book with love, betrayal, suspense, good vs evil, angels, the afterlife and more.

Andrea Emmes did a great job with the narration. She has a voice that fits the stories main character Tessa. She also did a great job with all the different characters. Her narration added to the enjoyment of the story.

This is the first S.B. Niccum book that I have listened to and I will be recommending this series. I am looking forward to the next book in the series as well as going back and reading the first book.

Excellent Read

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. The author of this book did a really good job of creating a story that was solid and complete. She provided a well thought-out story that didn't require me to have read the first book. She gave a thorough introduction and explained the characters without being obvious. The book had all the things I look for in a good book. It has suspense, thrill, and romance. The narrator did an excellent job of separating each of the characters and their personalities. The only thing I didn't like about this book is that there was no end. However, I knew about that when I started listening to it so I wasn't surprised. I guess I will just have to buy the next in this trilogy.

Living Soul

YA type fantasy. Tess has no idea that she lived a life of an angel before she was born. She only notices when she meets a boy, then life sort of splits for her and she knows him in his dreams. She has a foster sister that only wants to hurt her and a foster brother who is Autistic.A lot for a girl to handle.Andrea Emmes does a fine job narrating.I was provided this book by the author, narrator or publisher for review.

OMG this a a great book!

OMG this was a great book!
This is a long book, but worth every minute of it. I fell in love with with Tessa. I just wanted to give her a hug. Oh that poor girl, what she has been through. but every day she keeps going forward.
There are so many great characters in this book! The narrator does a great job on distinguishing the voices between them.
This book has lots of twists and turns, and there is never a dull moment. This is a book about paranormal; good versus evil devils and angels and the afterlife. its is written so well, that its believable, and you found your self wrapped up in Tessa’s world.

Nice Start

Tess is in foster care with an indifferent foster mother, in it for the money, and an autistic charge named Dorian who she protects from the cruel Agatha. Her life begins to unravel a little when she meets Alex who she has dreamt about for a long time. When she begins to hear voices, Tess has to ask herself if she is going crazy.

This book kept my interest for about the first half. It is an intriguing premise and the plot was well outlined. About half to three quarters of the way through the plot falls about a little bit and the story begins to meander. And the last quarter of the book is just not done well and it's like Niccum couldn't figure out how to end it. I hope the first anad third installments in this series are more thought out and the plot and character development handled with more skill.

The narration was well done for some characters and OK for others. Emmes accents were inconsistent as were her voices at times. I listened on 1.5 speed which was a good speed for me. I believe it evened out some of the more annoying narration. In the end, both the narration and the story were all right but I will not be picking up the other two books.

Worth the listen and thought process!

Would you consider the audio edition of Living Soul to be better than the print version?

I couldn't say how the print version would have compared because I did not read it I only listened.

Would you be willing to try another book from S.B. Niccum? Why or why not?

Yes, I would most certainly be open to another of this authors books. It turned out to be something very different than what I anticipated. It was a bit more philosophical than I had thought and it made me really think about what there is after death.

What does Andrea Emmes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I enjoy listening to books because it does and can bring a different perspective to the story. I know what i think but to hears someone else's take on it is always enjoyable for me. Would I have read it that way I don't know?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I think it was much better split into several sittings because it gave me the opportunity to really think about the hidden meaning in the story.
