Publisher's Summary

Originally published in 1864, Journey to the Center of the Earth, written by Jules Verne, is a science fiction adventure novel that follows German professor Otto Lidenbrock.
After translating an ancient runic manuscript, he claims to have discovered a route that would allow a man to reach the center of the Earth, by descending into a volcano. Accompanied by his nephew, Axel, and a guide named Hans, they travel down the Icelandic volcano where they encounter many dangers, including prehistoric animals. Their journey is ultimately cut short when the three are put in a dangerous situation that may result not only in the end of the adventure, but also the end of their lives!

Journey to the center of the earth

I was somewhat disappointed. First I should say Jules Verne is by far my favorite author. I have read (or listened) to many of his books. I had an understanding "journey" was one of his best if not his best next to "leagues". But the story itself was not very interesting. The nephew Axel, was very annoying and frustrating to listen to. The narrator did an excellent job of bringing that out but also did an excellent job on the other characters as well. I enjoyed the professor and Hanz. He was the best narrator I could find in audible. His voice I believe matched very well with the age of the nephew. But the story is was got me. It was more about the journey then what they actually find and the journey seemed boring to me. I much prefer "leagues" very rich story about a journey.
