Publisher's summary

In this rowdy and raunchy urban fantasy, Lyla escaped an arranged marriage by accepting a deal from a jinni - to live 1,000 years as a jinni herself. Now, with her millennia nearly up, she's hiding out in a seedy Pittsburgh swarming with vampires, jinni, and magical beings.

Meet Lyla, a 1,000-year-old Jinn, a belly dancer, and the hottest new urban fantasy heroine in town. With her 1,000-year-long servitude ending, Lyla faces a few serious obstacles to freedom. A Magi intent on binding her again, a jinni bent on vengeance, and not to mention the nightmare from her past that threatens to make her curse permanent - and claim her very soul.

Critic reviews

2013, Best Urban Fantasy Protagonist, Winner

"Peeler is perfect. Jinn and Juice is her best urban fantasy yet with vibrant characters that leap off the page fully formed from the first line. Fast-paced, rowdy, smart, irresistible, and tender, there's just no one who hits the urban fantasy marks as well as Peeler. Buy this book! Read it! Love it!" (Kat Richardson)

"Peeler has done it again! Jinn and Juice is a delightful read filled with action, humor, heart, and a heroine to cheer for. And it doesn't hurt that there are also sirens, trolls, bugbears, and plenty of Pittsburgh steel." (Kevin Hearne, author of Hounded)

Great narrator of a great story!

I thoroughly enjoyed Jinn and Juice. I hadn't heard this narrator before, she is very good, I hope to hear more. I'm looking forward to another book about Oz, Lila, and crew.

Good story and interesting misfit characters

I found the story very interesting and I liked the characters. The world was unique. The many various creatures keep things interesting. I hope there will be more books in this serious.

Nicole Peeler has another hit series!

I liked the characters, the premise, plot line, pacing, and world building. I read Nicole's previous 'Tempest' series and liked her style. She doesn't write boring, her conversation is natural no matter how weird the topic, her characters sharp and defined. She is just as successful this go-round...I'm sold.

I happily recommend this series.

Great Story

I have read books by Nicole Peeler before and have really enjoyed them. This was no different. The world building and the characters were creative and fleshed out. I enjoyed the interactions between Lyla and the other characters. I look forward to seeing what Lyla and Oz do in the next book.

Entertaining and humorous listen

I enjoyed everything about this story. Yes, it was predictable at times but not to the point of boredom. The characters were unique as well as the magical concept. Narrator tied this up in a tidy bow.

Jinn and Juice … and Drag and melons

“We gave you a cantaloupe!”
That was fun and fresh, with wildly inventive creatures like a monster willow wisp or spider twins.
It feels mostly YA, with occasional F bombs, rather predictable twists, and of course a romance.

“Charlie’s voice oozed over the audience like KY at a p😜rn shoot,
getting all up in the audience’s oral cavities.”
It was also weird and sexual, with Jinn Lyla’s Scooby Gang being the members of a magical burlesque club that includes a fabulous drag character. There are the jokes you’d expect from such free spirits, some of which are a hoot (the running bit about melons) and some of which are all kinds of cringe
(the above quote was all kinds of wrong).

“I was going to have to do the magical equivalency of Kegels when this was over.”
In addition to being weird and sexual, the writing was weirdly sexual, especially considering nothing more than kisses happen with anyone. It felt very juvenile sex-on-the-brain. I dug it.

The story ends with a Flash Gordon kind of question mark ending, followed by a thirty minute teaser for some other author’s book. I don’t see any sequels in Audible, but if there were, I would happily move on in the series and eagerly await the next melon joke.
