Publisher's summary

The bodies are piling up!

Murders are happening outside Charlotte's hottest nightspots. A new vampire society has set up shop in the sewers. And Jimmy Black's about to run afoul of the Master of the City. If Jimmy weren't already a vampire, the week ahead would be the death of him.

Between murder, monsters, pesky vampire ethics, and territorial disputes, Jimmy is about to discover how far he's willing to go to save the world and one friend's soul.

There are no easy choices, even for vampire geeks.

I can't say enough good things

All the books in this series are worth great reviews, but in my opinion this one topped them all - not an easy thing for the last (but hopefully not final) book in a series. I can't say anything about it, simply because it was so fun and action packed that anything other than gushing enthusiasm will give away part of the plot. I personally liked it so much that when it was done I wanted to start it over again from the beginning.

The plot thickens

Any additional comments?

The pace of this installment ramped up and the story lines really swerved. The humor is still there, but scooby and the gang are in disarray. Can't wait for the next one.

I hope Black Knight detective agency survives

Few nice curve balls, but it's time to get the band back together. The dark turn of the story was unexpected but it ended in a positive place, I think......

some flaws

This book is fair and in keeping w earlier books. I didn't like a few things. Like our heroes girl friend falling off her high horse. She shows herself to be a shallow selfish person. She judges Jim negatively because he follows his dying best friend's last request. Prevent his partner from turning that friend into a vampire. To do that he has to get into a very violent fight with his partner. A fight that leaves both with major physical injuries. She then judges him negatively when her police lieutenant boss is told by Master Vampire to kill Jim. She's standing there and hears the order. She's standing there and hears the master saying that the lieutenant is hopped up on his vampire blood. She was present when earlier in story with lieutenant present, she heard the master admit he owned him! So why her righteous indignation? I like the character development of Jim. There are clues in earlier books that he and his partner are headed toward a clash of ideals. I'm looking forward to the next book(s). The reader continues to do an excellent job.

Come on, Narrator!

I have a major pet peeve regarding audiobook voice actors, and that is mispronouncing words. Don't these productions have Directors, or Quality Control people, or dictionaries?
This series has only had a couple of mispronounced words so far, but there were 3 or 4 in this book in particular, and it bugged the hell out of me.
Otherwise, good story arc, decent character development, good narration.
