Publisher's summary

A mission gone wrong. Innocent lives have been lost.

Escaping wrongful imprisonment wasn't something Connor had in mind, but being put into stasis aboard Earth's first interstellar colony ship was something he couldn't have prepared for.

For 300,000 colonists, the new colony brings the promise of a fresh start...a second chance. Connor might be the wrong man for the colony, but he's the right man to see that it survives what's coming.

A new world with new challenges, but the mission has changed.

If you loved Old Man's War and Ender's Game, you'll love Genesis from First Colony, a new military science fiction series.

Not a bad start

Actually, the very start of the book was a struggle but once on the Ark, it certainly improved and overall good story. The biggest issue is with the narrator. He does voices like I would if I was asked to attempt to narrate a book. The worst thing he does is, in my opinion, the worse offence of narrating, he changes volume based on the line. So you end up increasing volume of your headset only to have the next sentence blast your ears off.

Never, never, never use volume to get across inflection.

Riveting

I’m not a book person but I truly enjoyed listening to this book. Enough that I spent the money on the entire series, and I’m a cheap skate!

good for road trip?

Volume dwindles, suddenly returning to full with each new paragraph. Feels like getting slapped in the face. Decent military sci-fi plot and narrator does well with the dramatic scenes

Narrator was hard to listen to

Didn’t care for the narrators voice. At all. Loved the story though. Too bad he comes with the book.

Simplistic yet enjoyable

Nothing ground breaking here but a fun listen. Characters are decent, story is slightly predictable, yet it adds up to being worth your time.

Good enough to continue the series.

Good enough to continue the series. That should be all the advertising a series needs.

Thoughtful

Interesting - even in far off 'planets' escape from evil is not possible! Also, the reminder not to forget - we are the aliens to other worlds!

Not Ben Bova

Not enough about colonization and to much basic training to kill strange animals. And no excitement on finding a extraterrestrial civilization?
