"This is the Arena, and here we live to die."
These are the words carved into a holding cell where genetically-altered gladiators, the winged humans called Galdoni, are trained to fight. Kale, rescued by three high school students and nursed back from the brink of death, is given the chance to experience life as a human. When the other Galdoni are threatened, he has to use what he learned in the world outside the Academy to face the Arena and return to the human girl he loves.
Dark and exciting, Galdoni pushes the boundaries of love in a world of violence.

A Worthwhile Story
In some ways, definitely. Mr. Dumbreski does a fantastic job with voices and it's an entertaining listen, though I preferred reading along because I was less liable to miss things that way. Even if it's not necessarily better the audio is a benefit to the book.
Worldbuilding. It was the first book in the series, so while the story was fleshing everything out, there was a good deal of worldbuilding and I loved what we got to learn about the treatment of the Galdoni and Galdoni culture.
He makes the various characters distinct from each other from the get-go.
If I actually watched movies, I'd probably be able to come up with one. I'm honestly not sure.
