Delightful!

This was an enchanting collection of retold Cinderella stories, each one unique but also keeping true to the original fairy tale. A good collection to have playing in the car while driving to and from work.

These Cinderellas are not the Disney version...

You think you know the tale of Cinderella backward and forward? You know all about the pumpkin coach and the singing mice. Or do you? This collection of stories asks all of the most fascinating questions that will leave you doubting what you really know about the Cinder girl.
What if the stepmother was actually nice?
What if Cinderella was in love with another man?
What if Cinderella was really a factory worker?
What if the glass slippers belonged to another girl?
What if the coach was steam powered and not a pumpkin?
What if the throne belonged to her instead of the prince?
What if Cinderella had a space station to save?
What if the glass slippers were more than just pretty shoes?

Five Glass Slippers is a collection of fantasy/sci-fi retellings of probably the most famous classic fairytale of them all. While not quite as varied as the Five Enchanted Roses collection it was still a fun and entertaining listen and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I loved how each author in the collection kept many of the familiar elements of the original tale while telling the story in their own unique way.

I imagine the e-book version of this collection is quite good, but, there's something special about listening to the audiobook, especially if there's a good narrator. And this book has one of my absolute favorite narrators. She's great! Her voice is easy to listen to, she reads each character differently, and the production quality of her work is very good. If you love fairytale retellings, especially Cinderella, you've got to listen to this audiobook for sure.

Fun Fairytales

I enjoyed listening to the audio version of these stories,There were a few stories a little hard to follow the storyline . I love being able to listen and work on my crafts at the same time.

First Book is misleading

What would have made Five Glass Slippers better?

Starting off with a different story.

Would you recommend Five Glass Slippers to your friends? Why or why not?

I would but I would tell them to skip books 1 and 3. The rest of the books were such lovely retelling of Cinderella going from space and steam punkish to magic and a circus.

What three words best describe Becky Doughty’s performance?

Good but emotionless

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Five Glass Slippers?

Books 1 and 3

Any additional comments?

Overall it was good. At fist I thought that it was the reader who was terrible and not the first story, then I realized the first story sucked and the reader was decent. There was a lot of improvement as the stories went on.
