Publisher's Summary

The Bloody Conflict is long over. The lands are now controlled by despots, crooked cattle barons, energy hoarders, and anyone with enough might to keep the local folks under control.
For Clay Macaulay, none of that matters as he roams the land in a war machine from a time gone by. He wants nothing to do with small desert towns or brutal dictators. He only has his sights set on a new life. Unfortunately for Clay, too many ruthless people want what he has. They want the war machine he pilots. They want the battle mech that shouldn't exist anymore.
They want his Fighting Iron.
But they will have to pry Clay's cold, dead body out of that pilot's seat before they can take it from him. And he plans on fighting them every massive mech step of the way!
A far-future mech western, Fighting Iron is a rip-roaring sci-fi adventure filled with six-shooters, plasma canons, rough and rowdy saloon brawls, showdowns, corrupt landowners, and 50-foot battle machines ready to crush everything in their path!

Fun stomp through the post apocalyptic new west

Would you listen to Fighting Iron again? Why?

Probably in a year or more. The great part of the story are some of the plot twists and surprises, but it would still hold up well.

What did you like best about this story?

The main character wasn't a white hatted good guy or invincible.

Any additional comments?

This is a well written and narrated audiobook. The story feels like you've been dropped into a fully developed world complete with mechs left over from a world wide battle. The main character Clay is gritty and tough with just the right amount of humanity. The story takes him through twists and turns and encounters with all the bad guys and of course ends up unwillingly help the good guys. It is a tried and true plot line, but well executed.
The author isn't easy on Clay and he gets stomped, shot and pretty much beat up on a regular basis. It makes for a more realistic story as he stumbles his way to the big showdown.
I look forward to the further adventures of Clay MacAulay and his fighting iron.
