Publisher's summary

It's me or my baby. One of us must die.

Pregnancy is supposed to be a young mother's happiest moment. And I am, except that the leader of the community only allows 200 people in our group to live at a time. My baby will make 201.

I have two choices, choose someone in our home to die, or they'll make that choice for me.

The community is supposed to be our shelter from the aftermath of World War III, but it's anything but.

I've survived this long, me and the love of my life. I must move on, I must survive for us, for our baby.

If you're looking for a great dystopia romance, this book is for you.

This book continues Kelly’s story. As she travels with Bodey and his father they try to find shelter and safety while also trying to stay one step ahead of the men chasing and terrorizing them. It never seems to end for Kelly, every new day seems to bring a new problem. There never seems to be a minute of peace for these characters. I found the obsession that all the men seem to have for the young Kelly to be a bit tedious. There was not a lot of character development or strength for me. I found their story slow and most of the characters irritating. Kelly and Bodey are both naive and frustrating. For every step forward that Kelly makes there are two steps backwards. She does not seem to grow up and is constantly whining throughout the story. Narrator Sarah J. Taylor does a nice job of keeping the story flowing.

How much does a person's value describe a person's worth.

Kelly, Body and John are trying to settle in to the community on Fourth of July Pass. Not all is as it seems. When Kelly become pregnant the question of a person's worth becomes a hugh issue. The leader of the community, Rowan, leaves the decision up to Kelly. How does a 19 year old pregnant girl decide which of the people she loves the most dies. Or she can choose herself to be the sacrifice. Sadness, loss, unknown dangers are frightening.
