Publisher's summary

Aliens have invaded the Milky Way.

Captain Martin and his fleet at the opposite end of our galaxy is all that stands between the emerging ancient aliens and certain destruction of humanity. Even with the help of powerful magic, the alien menace may be too much to overcome.

Elsewhere, Agent Hague chases down rumors of a secret cult after an assassination attempt on the president of the Federation's life.

With the emergence of the long-foretold aliens, the Federation stands on the brink of destruction.

Can Captain Martin and his allies hold the line? Can Agent Hague uncover a plot within the Federation?

A tribute to Star Wars books of old, and the first book in a new trilogy in the existing Seven Stars Universe, Emergence is set nearly 2,000 years after Shadows Fall and features cameos from many of the longer-lived heroes of ages past.

Meh

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The narration was pretty decent, the story line was nothing new to the genre... typical alien invasion/humanity fights back concept. The dialog was, at times, hokey. This book seemed rushed somehow. Like the author had all of these great ideas and tried to put them all into the story.

The narrator does a fine job with a boring story

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated by Dan Carroll does a fine job making this an a fine listening experience. Listening to this story is better than reading it because the narrator is able to take a story that needed more emotional depth, action and better developed adversary aliens make it a worthy tale.

Two Pronged Story

Dayne Edmondson has written a clever story divided into two fronts. One prong related the story of Captain Martin and his fleet which is opposing hostile alien enemies who intend to destroy humanity. The other prong is about Agent Hague who is trying to figure out who is behind the assassination attempt of the president of the Federation. Dayne adds a little magic with the inclusion of the "Eternals" who are humans with superpowers. I enjoyed the story even though at times it was a little confusing when jumping between the two different fronts. Dan Carroll's narration added to the entertainment of the book. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Old enemies to fight

I was provided this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review. My main dissatisfaction came from the narrator. He would take breaths within sentences of average length. I found his reading wooden, more like simply reading a book rather than narrating a story.

For the story, the characters were developed in relation to their fighting. I enjoyed the story, which was action-packed and followed multiple characters. Although there was a single enemy, the K'Kresh (sp?), it came in multiple forms, each requiring a different manner of killing. I will not be reading books 2 and 3.

action! action! action!

The narrator for this book did a very good job on the voices in this book. There was lots of action as the good guys fought an invasion by an old nemesis. So if you want action in your reading tnen this is a good book for you.

Blend of science and magic.

I liked the story with an interesting political twist involving why people are surprised. The narration was well done but should have been a women with all the female characters. The male version of a woman’s voice gets tiring.
