Publisher's Summary

Reese Eddings has enough to do just keeping her rattletrap merchant vessel, the TMS Earthrise, profitable enough to pay food for herself and her micro-crew. So when a mysterious benefactor from her past shows up demanding she rescue a man from slavers, her first reaction is to say "NO!" And then to remember that she sort of promised to repay the loan. But she doesn't remember signing up to tangle with pirates and slavers over a space elf prince…

good book, horrible voice

I like the book, but the man reading it ruins it. His reading sounds all breathy, ironic, and unaccountably lazy and indolent. He in no way matches the tone of what he is reading.

I couldn't get pass the first sentence.

Money wasted. I couldn't get pass the first sentence. The narrator gave me chills and not the good kind. He sounded like a creepier.
This might be a good story but I'll never know.

what an awesome story

I actually want to read it now as I have fallen in love with the pelt universe. I loved that the star of the book had time to read books as well. you obviously have to read the next book...you will need to know more

Earthrise

At first I found the narrator a little frustrating but more I listened the more I realised that his voice suited the story. The story is not complicated but was surprising pleasant to listen to. Although this type of story of an off beat crew that seems to constantly find themselves in situations that are dangerous to their well being, the writer has written in such a way that it is a fresh and intriguing. The balance between seriousness and humour is just right. If you don't want to listen to something heavy, I suggest you give this a try.
