To sate a desire more powerful than death...

love this series but...

Okay I'm not a fan of Chase because he's an evil rat bastard but... I understand why he is the way he is. Yes he tortured and killed many in the lore but they kinda started it. I'm just saying... his whole family was tortured and killed by loreans. He is then approached (as a grieving tortured impressionable young man) manipulated and brainwashed by the real bad guy in this thing, West. Of course I can't say Chase was right for what he did but I understand it. He has been drugged his whole life and is dealing with all these questions about dreams and pain he doesn't understand not to mention being on his own and struggling with being "different" but not knowing why. His mind is completely messed up. Regin goes through hell with guy and can forgive and forget so I guess I will. This book isn't my favorite but I'm glad Mrs. Cole didn't stick to the norm and gave us something different. The story is actually a good story and gets really good the last quarter of the book after La Dorada infiltrates the prison. By the end I actually didn't mind Chase. I mean hell, Nix helped him as a young boy knowing what is to come. Who am I to question a demi-goddess. One last thing... I'd like to know more about young Thad.

I'm a fan of Kresley Cole, But not this book

I've read all of the books in the IAD series. But I'm sorry to say, this is my least favorite of them all. Which is sad , because I was really looking forward to Regin the Radiant's story.

The problem I had was with the main male character, Declan Chase. He is just not a good man. The things he does are really cruel, and he doesn't seem to feel bad for all the pain he has inflected on the immortals he held in his prison. I just couldn't get over that.

A TALE OF DANGER, MAYHEM & UNDYING LOVE THRU TIME

Anyone who is familiar with the I.A.D. series pretty much knows what they're going to get... a very well-written, imaginative, exciting, captivating, unpredictable plot inhabited by fantastical paranormal characters, twists, turns, surprises, shocks and the continuation, progression and casualties of the War against the good v the bad Lore. What you also get is a love story running through them that always have pitfalls but despite everything love will conquer all thanks to feisty Heroines and drool-worthy Alpha Heroes and KC knows her stuff when it comes to writing Heroes..... this one's got an 8-pack hero in it girls!!

However, Regin's doomed love story starts when she is just 11 years old and meets a handsome Viking Berserker Warlord called Aidan and their heartbreaking fate was set. But through many reincarnations and tragic events it was many years and lifetimes before she finally met him again in Declan a cold, physically and mentally scarred Torturer who hated her kind. Tragic, heartbreaking, pulse-pounding, emotional, exciting, vicious, humorous, passionate, tender and sexy was their adventurous journey to the HEA with lots of thrills, chills, sexual tension and surprises along the way.

Robert Petkoff makes all the characters come to life and inserts emotion and feeling into any situation and any accent as he acts his way through a story and hopefully these books will NEVER EVER be narrated by anyone else because they just wouldn't be the same.

Worth a credit? All that and witty snappy dialogue, laughable, lovable and evil characters from previous books along with characters yet to have their stories told, this would easily have been a credit well spent but, for under $10 for nearly 15 hours of an action-packed paranormal romance, it is a real bargain. This is book 11 in an entertaining and enjoyable series that's never dull or boring.

Mixed feelings.

Althought I love Kresley Coles writing and this book was good I just wasn't a fan of Declan as a hero. He does totally transform in the end and turns out awesome. It’s the getting there that left a bitter taste in my mouth. Regin is a much better person than I, because I don't know that I could have forgiven him the way she does. But with that said I still really liked the book, I am enthralled with the world that has been built in this series and I will be listening to everything KC writes. I really like how she manages to overlap the same story into each book, yet make it a new story by who's point of view. Usually I'm not a fan of this type of writing but KC does it without making it seem repetitive, she brings life and adventure to the story. It only gets better with Robert Petkoff reading it.

REGIN FOR PRESIDENT!!!

Wow...this book was extra emotional for me because Regin is a total B-A and to have her get emotional was thrilling and exciting at the same time. Regin is fated to the male that has been enslaving the Lorion creatures for years and pretty much was second in command, what is girl suppose to do with that? Well Regin has it covered. I love Regin! and of course Robert Petkoff ... Masterpiece as usual, but extra kudos for having extra voice's for Declan Chase, completely sublime, your talents amaze me! No question this series rules!

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LLLLOOOOVVVVEEEE IT!

Would you listen to Dreams of a Dark Warrior again? Why?

ABSOLUTELY!

What other book might you compare Dreams of a Dark Warrior to and why?

None.

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

Robert Petkoff has the voice for audiobooks. He really brings the story to life!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It was the moment of the escape. Regin picked up the machine gun. I won't repeat what she said but I laughed for 10 straight minutes!

Any additional comments?

I usually don't write reviews but I couldn't pass this up. Regin has ALWAYS been my favorite character. I love her bravado and wit! I was so excited to learned that her story was coming to audio. Plus to have Mr. Petkoff to narrator, I knew it was a book I had to have. Let's just say if you purchase this book, you will not be disappointed!!!

He's Not Bad - He's Just Brainwashed

In a daring twist with the series, the hero of this story is the former #2 Bad Guy. It turns out he's Regan's one and only. Regan is one of my favourite characters, in moderation, she's good for the occasional funny quip, over the top action, or stupid "Val" trick but too much Regan is like an "ice cream" headache.
The back story lists the circumstances that drove Regan's man to the dark side and while tragic, to me, they didn't excuse his past atrocities. Typically, the men in this series, indeed this genre, are larger than life, super tough, mega-Alphas. The narration was great, I just couldn't get behind a normal, sort of anti-hero.

Cant believe I listened to the bad reviews???

I just finished listening to Dreams of a Dark Warrior (Chase & Regin) and cannot believe all the bad reviews this book has received!!!!!!
I laughed and I cried, and I loved the story.
So many reader’s hearts were hardened towards Declan Chase!
I was surprised to find that I did not feel the same way they did.
I understood his choices, because they were plain to see! And I can honestly say that my heart wrapped around their love story. His remorse was great and real and completely believable. So I really was shocked so many people had such bad reviews over a book that was not in any way as bad as they said. Though this wasn’t my absolute favorite out of all the Immortal Warriors books, it truly is right up there near the top!!! Don’t listen to all the naysayers!!! Make up your own mind and read/hear this grand tale of the forgiveness and love and the many sides of loyalty that this couple’s redeemed relationship goes through. Overcomers of the highest order.
I loved their story. Thanks Kres.

You can NEVER go wrong with Kresley Cole

Sexy, dark, and sensual to the max! Great story, excellent narration, and a worthy addition to the series. Regin was never one of my favorite characters in the other IAD books, so I wasn't sure I'd enjoy this story, however, I am a diehard KC fan, so I knew it would be tolerable. Well, it was better than tolerable, I totally freaking loved it! There were moments where it was a little slow, but, overall it was typical KC. Declan was a great character, super intense and hot. He was so dark and hateful, it was awesome to see him fall so hard for Regin and her for him. The icing on the cake, was---Lothaire. Although I've long since read his story, I'll take a dose of Lothaire any day of the week. Definitely a must read/listen, and credit worthy.

Fantastic story fantastic characters

I love Kresley Cole's books. The characters, the fantasy, it's all there. In this book, the heroine and the unlikely hero, who is also a villain, have enough drama in their lives and they are aided and abetted by a bunch of other characters who are fascinating in themselves. It's a good read.
