Dragons Reign: Dazzling Storytelling

As I listened to the audiobook version of "Dragons Reign”, book #2 of Tessa Dawn’s Dragons Realm saga, I was transported into an “otherworld" of brutal passion, fate and magic. Dazzling, emotive and sophisticated, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the story. It was the perfect companion to the e-book version, which I enjoyed first. Tessa Dawn is a gifted author, one which I am eternally grateful to have discovered. I have read each and every one of her books from both the Blood Curse Series and the Dragons Realm saga multiple times, each time, discovering fresh and exciting story elements to keep me thinking for days. Thank you, Tessa!

Captivating!

I did not want to stop listening! It had absolutely everything I love in a book, with hero's you love to love and villains you love to hate. Tessa Dawn is a gifted writer and has done it again with the second book in this series brought to life beautifully by Mikael Naramore. I just loved this amazing, and captivating story. There are so many paranormal books available but this book is an absolute gem!

such a good conclusion to the series

kept me at the edge of.me.seat. the deception and twists all ended up being so worth it. nice finish out so.perfect.

overall good story but not for children

definitely should have a warning for children with some soft porn (if not on the border of hard...no pun intended) and a few f bombs. both were truly not needed but I guess that floats some boats. it detracted from the story imho.

otherwise it was a pretty good series (2 books) for the drama and story. didn't leave a review for the first so this will suffice for both. note the soft porn and f bombs were mostly in the 2nd book but there was 1 part in the first book with a soft porn scene. and there were some moments it could have gone to rape...well there was rape in both books by one of the bad guys (I do hate spoilers so ill leave at that that) but thankfully the rape scenes were more describing that it happened and not the blow by blow (again no pun intended) like the soft porn stuff was detailed.

what I really liked about the story was the effort made to wrap up the book and series over the last few chapters. not many authors do that very well these days. Lord of the Rings is probably the best master piece at that. this wasn't quite that but effort was made to address most of the characters (even some I had forgotten about or had relatively small roles). this was a nice touch and really added to the satisfaction of the story. I also like that you weren't totally sure who would be next to possibly die so there was always tension...and made the book more realistic even though it was pure fantasy. I suppose that's also why you use edgy language and sex to make it seem more "real"...but again for me it didn't add much and kind of detracted from my enjoyment of the overall story.

one last thing. well 2. first I would be remiss if I didn't give a HUGE shout out to the narrator Naramore! I've heard him before for the Black Ocean series Galaxy Outlaws...he is once again fabulous here! truly he is my favorite or 2nd favorite narrator all time, and is actually why I decided to get this 2 book series and had it on my wishlist for a long time until everything went on sale this summer. honestly without him, this night be a 3 star series and not a 4.5! a good narrator makes all the difference to bring them to life. RC Bray is probably my top favorite and he does the same for the books he reads. it's truly a gift and talent that takes much hard work. so kudos to him and the author for landing him in this series!

second and finally, uf you like all action for fantasy series, this might not be it. there is definitely action (including the soft porn lol) but there is a lot of character development and interaction that might feel slow and more like a romantic novel at times. as a guy, I like some of both but tend to favor more action. that said (and likely due a lot to the narrator) I felt I could handle this overall...but had it been a lot more then I might have bailed. it's a good value if you get these on sale. its decent with normal credit per book. overall 4 to 4.5 stars. dinged for the points noted above but still a good 2 book series that felt a bit longer than just 2 books.

started slow but WOW!!!

The Prophecy's time has finally come. Prince Dante Dragona has come of age and he is ready is take the throne. But a treachery of the past raises its head and threatens to foil the carefully planned strategy of Prince Dante. Much is at stake in this mighty attempt. All the lies and deceptions will come spilling forth and many are doomed to be caught up in the aftermath. The question is, will be be for good or evil? Is all the great risk worthy of the reward to be gained, for every beating heart will be wagered in this bloody game and reckoning. Fantastic sequel to book one. It started a little slow for me but picked up and swept me along to the end.

Wonderful story line and well written!

Narrator was great and it was really nice that they kept the same narrator for both books. Tessa Dawn never cease to provide a well written and detailed story without the fluff.

This narrator was awesome! I read the first book, then did audio to see how it was. This guy made the book.

Dragons! Oh My!

I was so excited to get this second installment of the series. Just when I thought things couldn’t get more intense I was proved wrong. There were twists and turns around every corner. The story is so engaging I felt like I was there with the characters. If you’re into dark and dangerous you will love this book!
