Good book. Narrator could be better.

Overall, I thought the story was interesting. There were times where it was a little hard to follow the timelines. I think part of the issue was the narrator. He seemed to only have one voice for any female character. I don't regret the time listening to it, but think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read it.

From beginning to end, this one kept me interested

Loved the ideas of this story and the execution was well done. Characters were well developed and you kept learning about them till the end.
Would love to hear more.

Jim Rogers has a deep gravelly voice that by itself adds to the story. Unfortunately in this case it greatly aged the main character. It took me quite some time to figure out that the main character was in his 30's to early 40's mostly because that voice sounded so much older. I think he would make a great narrator but was not the best fit for this story. At the same time, that voice truly added to this story.

Overall I would recommend this story to anyone looking for a fast paced adventure with an ex-military man and a young girl as the main characters.

Parallel worlds, doppelgangers, awesomeness!!!

Doors Without End: Alternatives
By: Richard A. Bamberg
Narrated by: Jim Rogers
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I loved this book! A loner writer who lost his wife recently saves a girl from a guy and finds himself in the middle of a mess of a life time. Parallel worlds, doppelgangers, people trying to kill him and steal the kid, and he finds people dying around him. Full of intrigue, adventure, sci-fi, and action. A fast paced book that keeps you jumping from world to world, awesomeness!
The narrator is absolutely perfect for this book. He goes from a deep gruff voice to a delicate girl's voice, lol. He keeps all the voices straight and there are plenty. Great job. He really helps the book! It made it more interesting than just me reading it. He made it more like a movie.

Terrific read

Very good book in gender. Funny situations with all the doppelgängers. I hope you enjoy as much as I did. I received this audible book for free. If I was supposed to give my honest review, that is exactly what I did.

Perfect Little Subtle Sci Fi

•audiobook•

"I was provided this audio book at no charge by the narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBoom dot com".

I can’t recall if I started this book three or four times before I was able to make it past the first chapter. But this afternoon, whilst watching the snow fall, it finally caught my interest and took me from world to world.

I really enjoyed the characters, the plot, the world(s) building, and the storytelling. The narrator did a fabulous job with this book!

The multi-universe was explained in bite sized morsels as the book progressed.

It was enjoyable and broke my cabin fever and frustration about how my unplowed road threw my plans off.

A pleasant surprise and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a taste of a subtler sci fi adventure.

Great stand alone sci-fi/fantasy story

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was definitely a good book. The narration wasn't the best, but not so much that it killed the experience for me. It was an interesting premise and had lots of action and some humor mixed in. Definitely worth the credit.

Good story. Needs better narration.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

The book has a good story that keeps you interested. It's not one of those "can't put down" kind of books but good enough. The main two characters are well fleshed out. Most of the other characters felt pretty one dimensional though and lacked versatility.

The narration was the weak point of this book. The narrator's pacing and tone was mismatched with the pacing/mood of the chapters. Sometimes the delivery didn't match the scene being read. And the voices sounded almost same for different characters.

Definitely credit worthy!

Richard A. Bamberg is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. This is the 3rd book I've listened to by Bamberg and, while I thoroughly enjoyed all 3, "Doors Without End" is by far my favorite. I absolutely LOVED this book. It grabbed me from the very beginning and still hasn't let me go! The book is full of action and adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I couldn't put it down....finished in one day. Now, I'm sad it's over! Although this story was wrapped up by the end of the book, I would LOVE to hear more about and from these characters and their crazy worlds/timelines. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is the beginning of a new series......
My only complaint is the narration; and, while it isn't awful, it's not great, either. The female voices are a bit odd, sometimes a whisper, and there are a few mispronunciations. That said, it's bearable, and definitely not worth missing this great story!!!!

Exciting story, hit-or-miss narration

This story was absolutely fantastic! It had the feel of a classic western-esce novel mixed with a sci-fi twist. I honestly loved the story so much that I'm going to be buying a paperback copy to give to someone for Christmas.

That being said, the narration was... eh. I loved his voice and thought that it worked perfectly for the story, but his tone/inflection didn't always match the words being read. Sometimes it felt as if he didn't understand what was actually happening in the story so his voice was too excited or too dull for what was going on. It seemed to get better as book progressed, so maybe it was an experience thing or he got more into the story, I'm not sure. Once I was invested in the story, though, I didn't care too much about any of the minor things.

I would definitely recommend this book, I just think the narrator needs a bit of coaching.
