Publisher's Summary

The Price family has spent generations studying the monsters of the world, working to protect them from humanity - and humanity from them.
Meet Verity Price. Despite being trained from birth as a cryptozoologist, she'd rather dance a tango than tangle with a demon, and is spending a year in Manhattan to pursue her dream career in professional ballroom dance. That is, until talking mice, telepathic mathematicians, and a tangle with the Price family's old enemies, the Covenant of St. George, get in her way.

Good fun

I gotta admire Seanan's imagination, even if it's a bit short on fact-checking, e.g. about Krav Maga, or fighting generally. Suspend disbelief & enjoy for what it is, a joyful fantasy romp.

4. 5 Stars

The story itself was very enjoyable. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me is the delivery of the narration was irritatingly slow for my taste. I ended up listening at 1.25 speed which I have never felt the need to do before. That is just a minor complaint so overall I definately recommend giving it a listen. I'm just about to get stuck into book 2!

3.5 stars- but think the series will get better

Liked the book, goofy and kept me interested. Seems like it’s setting up a world/characters for future books. Happy to see where the series leads to.

Loved it!

A really fun, light book for fans of the more quirky urban fantasy. Downloading book 2 now.
