Deaders...Dead Wrong

Jacob quietly lives with his family in a somewhat remote location until the deaders come. Now all he has is his trusty crow bar. He doesn’t know why he has been spared, but he does know that the only way he can keep going is by burning the deaders out of his city. He is going about this task when he realizes he is not the only man left on the planet.

The doctor is astonished and excited when he and the military convoy come across Jacob. He is the only one still alive and not wearing an oxygen mask. It’s just in the nick of time, too, as they are running out of clean oxygen to breathe.

The doctor and Jacob and the military do not start off on the best of terms. Once the military base is attacked, though, they unite in an uneasy alliance and discover the true cause of the deader epidemic. The full truth of what caused the deaders and the rise of the zombies surprises and infuriates them both.

I liked this listen. I like Jacob and the way he handles all of the devastation he encounters. I liked the radio show at the beginning. I like the twist of what started the apocalypse. This feels like the first in a series, though, as there definitely wasn’t a resolution to much of anything at the end of it. I’ll be on the lookout for the next installment and hope Jacob’s story continues.

Eric Shelman does a great narration for this material. His voices, both male and female, are good and his pace, tone, and cadence for the rest of the narration is outstanding. I will be looking for him in the future.
