Publisher's summary

In this new dark world, responsibility for others is a heavy burden.

Megan Wolford is used to handling her own problems, so being part of a makeshift family, and all the responsibilities that come with it, is a new experience. She'll do anything to help protect her newfound love Wyatt and the lodge group - but sometimes events are out of her control....

When a leak in a nearby dam threatens to flood the land they've fought so hard to keep, Megan and her group will have to make a difficult choice: stay or leave? Stopping the flood will require all their resourcefulness, prepper ingenuity, and effort - but leaving it will mean the blood lost protecting it was for nothing.

As Wyatt reveals the true hidden value of the lodge, they'll be forced to dig in and build a set of flood defenses to divert the incoming torrent. But with the leak growing larger every day, the survival of the group is anything but guaranteed - and little do they know, a force more malevolent than Mother Nature is behind the deteriorating dam....

Up Against Seemingly Insurmountable Odds

Sometimes a book cover is what drives me to read a book. For some reason I didn’t look at this cover until I was more than halfway through Dark Destruction (probably because I already like this series and I knew I wanted to read this without seeing the cover) but the cover on this one really gives a nice glimpse into what the Lodge is going to deal with in book four of the EMP Lodge series.

Megan, Wyatt, and the gang are back at it again. Having survived an attack by crazy bikers and finally settling in (as much as you can) to the Lodge – they hear an explosion and decide to check it out. Upon finding the place where they think the explosion took place they find a crack in the dam protecting their Lodge from being washed away.

Dark Destruction is an aptly named book in the EMP Lodge series. I really wasn’t sure if everyone was going to make it out of this one alive – and I won’t ruin it for anyone. I thought that Megan’s idea was a little crazy but that’s what it takes to stay alive.

I also like that the survivors haven’t been out on their own long enough that they haven’t lost all hope. Some prepper/post-apocalyptic books are written in a way where you just know that day 2 the person or people have given up hope of there being any good left in the world. Hamilton has been keeping a little sliver of hope alive in Megan and I can’t tell if it’s going to continue or finally be squashed.

Andrew Tell is a magician for this series. He takes an already good book and – poof – adds a little bit of his magic to it and it’s even better. I think that his narration in combination with Hamilton’s writing style will have me coming back for more.

4th Installment in a Fun Series in a EMP world

This is Grace Hamiltons 4th book in the EMP Lodge Series. The characters are all well formed by now with and this a not a good spot for newcomers to the series to jump in. Megan and Wyatt are now the unspoken leaders of the group. To keep the review spoiler free I will just say that the threat to the lodge is not another group of raiders or illness. This was a fun story and really enjoyable. Megan is finally developing into a character I can enjoy more without wanting to strangle when listening to her indecision and internal monologues. I highly recommend this volume in the series.

The narration is once again by Andrew Tell and he delivers a great performance. He is just one of those narrators that are really great and you always enjoy his effortless performance because they just fly by so fast.

A story of survival

This is the latest installment book 4 of the excellent Dark Destruction series. This latest book didn't disappoint.

What makes this series different it is not centered around a ex Navy Seal and his hidden fortress in the wilderness thats manly an armory to fight off the bad guys.

This book we find the survivors struggling to just survive. Food, in fighting are all taking their toll of the electric "family" that is comprised of people that banded together to improve their chances of survival.

There is not a single very strong leader. That at times causes issues and group dynamics are tested with grief, bad guys and frustration all under a cloud of despair. I was left thinking of a verse from a song I heard done by Brett Dennen Where is hope for the hopeless? Thats enough of a tease, I don't want to ruin it for the listener

The narration is good. It is not a easy book to narrate I suspect , as the group of characters is large, both sexes and ages. Its a job well done and I could "know" the characters by inflection.

If you like a book and series that touches upon apocalyptic , but really only acts as a back drop for a "how would modern peoples adapt if they were thrust into the 19th century?

Try the series ; I think you will like it

I was given this book by the author to review. The opinions are my own and honest thoughts and feelings upon listening

Dark Destruction- loved it.

I have been following this series since book. I think this one by all was my favorite. I love that Grace Hamilton was able to keep my attention throughout the series. My favorite part of this book, was that the protagonist wasn't someone trying to steal their goods or there land. It was a very interesting twist, and had some nailbiting chapters, if you are fan of this series I highly recommend this book.

AndrewTell, did as always, an absolute fabulous job narrating this book. He has excellent pronunciation is very smooth voice to listen to.

Great job to both you

4th in EMP Series

This is 4th in good series and suggest read or listen to the first 3 books, this is about survival after solar flare/EMP. It is a different Dystopian about a gutsy woman named Megan with daughter who has already survived for 1 yr. and their lodge is threatened to be destroyed by breaking dam. It has good character development (love Rosie and Wyatt) and good prepping (love the dog, Duke and the goats). I hope we see if Emma and her grandparents survived. Recommend to anyone who enjoys Dystopian/ Post-Apocalyptic books. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU!
