Publisher's summary

The first rule of a supernatural fight club? Don't kill your opponent. When the fighters come with lethal spells, werewolf strength, and half-demon powers, that can be a lot tougher than it sounds. It's hard to attract talent if they know they might not leave the ring alive. So when fighters at a California club start dying, it's bad for business. Witch detectives Paige Winterbourne and Savannah Levine take the case. Going undercover in the power-heavy arena of the fight club is a welcome change of pace for Paige, relegated to the role of The Wife as her husband struggles to find his place in his family's Cabal---the corporate Mafia of the supernatural world. As Paige is drawn deeper into new and dangerous corners of her world, she quickly discovers the greatest threat isn't the killer in her sights. It's something much, much closer to home. And this is one fight she can't afford to lose.

Very good story!

I was happy with the return of Laural Merlington as the narrator, since she read most of the series in the first place. This short story reminded me of why I started listening to the series in the first place. I was very happy with this story.

Maybe it’s just me

Maybe it’s just me or the fact that I’ve listen to her narrate so many of these that I don’t mind Laurel Merlington anymore she does a pretty good job, she’s a lot better than some of them have been. This is a short story but It has enough mystery and enough excitement to wet your appetite before the next book and it gives you a little bit of insight into Savannah as an adult

Too short . . . too many loose ends

I understand this is a novella but all the same it could have wrapped things up better . . . other than that a excellent addition to Kelley Armstrong's - Women of the Otherworld series and as usual Laural Merlington does an excellent job as the narrator.

Well worth buying and reading just leaves you wanting more . . . the end seems rushed and leaves lots of the story threads in the air . . .

Follows a formula

This is the only Kelly Armstrong book I have listened to and it likely to be my last. The story was a shallow mystery with different kinds of people (witches, demons, etc) to fill out the pages.

The most memorable (and not in a good way) thing about the book was how the primary character was always looking to have sex with her husband.

This might be interesting for 14 year old girls, otherwise forget it.
