Publisher's summary

When creatures of the night proved to be real, the best of America's military came together to form an elite band of rapid response teams. Their mission: to face the challenge and keep the civilian populace safe from any who would do harm and hide all evidence of their existence. Now, the teams face a threat so overwhelming that they are left with no choice but to turn to the very monsters they've hunted in the past to assist them in protecting humanity. As a dark storm brews on the horizon and the teams scramble to enlist the aid of those who will answer the call, they also find themselves being uprooted from the security of the facility they call home and transplanted into the middle of the Nevada desert, all in an effort to draw the evil to them and away from civilians. The teams prepare for a showdown with the darkest of creatures and an army of undead with the very existence of humanity hanging in the balance...

ended too soon

this book is exciting and entertaining, and one can easily forgive the technical mistakes, however, the fact that this is in the middle of a series, is too evident, when nothing at all is resolved, and new story strands are made. this book would benefit from wrapping up a few loose ends

Great series!

This is a great series, if you will be patient with a first book and give it a chance, you will be rewarded with a great listen of book 2 and 3! I wish audible would have the rest of the series out already. Can't wait for the next book!

Should be the Blockbuster Movie!

Maybe future stories or installments will include multiple voices, not taking anything away from cast, but this story deserves more, Great storyline and concept based on our global traditions and beliefs, right next to the UFOs.

Plot Mover But Still Good

This was obviously a book written to move the plot along but gives greater depth to characters as well as introducing a few more plot points to the story.
Overall a good listen & is on par with the rest of the series.
It is amusing listening to the development of the Tufo character & knowing that there is an actual author by that name in this genre.

Events are coming to a head in an exciting buildup

This is the third book in the Monster Squad series, and it is what i consider a lead up novel, setting up the pieces for a climactic final book/plotline, while closing out some plotlines in itself. The Monster Squad, the Government's monster hunters, are preparing for the final showdown with the forces of the Sicarri, the worlds master vampire. Losing means humanity will be reduced to the level of cattle, the ones that are left alive, that is. The human hunters work to gain allies, such as the elves, a sect of vampires that only feeds on animals, and go in search of the the First werewolf, a contemporary of The Sicarri. The book has battles, betrayals, exciting escapes, and a look into the mind of a truly evil, 2000 year old vampire, who is actually a historical figure. The pacing is excellent, with the cast of characters responding as real military operators would. The villains are almost sympathetic, with reasons that can be understood. The characters are fleshed out, with strengths and weaknesses that are understandable to the reader. Jack Voorhies does an excellent job again of bringing the characters to life, never letting the pace of his narration drag, and using multiple tones and accents to differentiate the characters. Any fans of Weston Ochse's Seal Team 666 and Evan Currie's Seal Team 13 will enjoy this book.

I absolutely love this series!

I'm not sure why you are reading this review. ALL the books live up to their top-shelf status. I would wish you to start with the first book in this series. I highly recommend this series. Now for the obligatory: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

meh

I hate books in a series that seem to advance the story but are only filler. This is filler.

Ug.

What disappointed you about Coalition of the Damned?

Nothing happened. The last two books have been building up to this big apocalyptic fight and at the end of the third book you would expect the fight to take place.

It doesn't. And it ends in a very unsatisfying way.

Add into that the dialogue of the entire series has been awful, with the characters speaking in the most unnatural ways, as well as the consistent use of the same phrases it just makes getting through this series a chore.

I can't even count the number of times the author uses the phrase 'Things that go bump in the night"

COME ON MAN! Come up with something different.

From the two dimensional, or in some cases one dimensional, characters, annoying dialogue, and unsatisfying ending I will not be purchasing anything by this author in the future.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something not this.

What aspect of Jack Voorhies’s performance would you have changed?

The narrator actually did a decent job with very bad material. He had a good number of accents and voices, and didn't make many mistakes.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.
