Publisher's Summary

When young Matthew starts talking to himself, and introduces his invisible friend, Chocky, to the family, his parents decide it's just a phase he is going through. But when Matthew starts explaining binary maths and anti-gravity propulsion, they begin to worry. Is Chocky really just the product of an over-inactive imagination, or something more? Based on a novel by John Wyndham, this full-cast radio drama was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1998.

AMAZING Radio Adaptation of the Book!

Any additional comments?

I honestly don't think the production staff/actors behind this radio play could have done a better job of encapsulating the essence of the story and theme in Wyndham's work. You really get a sense of the confusion and trauma that this little boy is going through, along with the mystery of whether or not the voices in his head are real or imagined.

9.4 / 10

Classic Sci-Fi done well

Great cast, interesting story. I wish my father was as rational! Recommended listening if you like the works of Wyndham or Kneale.

entertaining

Not my favourite Wyndham novel but very entertaining anyhow. I liked the voice of Chocky & it was the perfect length for this short-ish book. I enjoy BBC dramas.
