Narrator ruins book

I couldn't get through the first chapter. I tried but the narrator's nasally voice grated on my nerves. I just couldn't take it. I wish they would redo it with a less nasally narrator. I guess I'll have to read this myself. The bad thing is they let the same narrator read the whole series so she doesn't just ruin the first book, she ruins them all. What a shame.

So glad I stumbled upon this series. First book was good but the rest of the books really build on the story line and is one of my favourite finds this year. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal\fantasy series. I am older than the target demographic...but this series is very entertaining and is worth the credits.

Love this book. This series! The characters!

I was not expecting to love this series. To be honest I've been seeing it come up over and over in my "books you might like" but it just didn't look like it would be my type. But I eventually bought it with little hope that it would be a good book. However, I am exhausted! I was up till 3 in the morning, because I was so hooked. I could not put this book down!

The world building is amazing - the author created a wonderful, interesting world with odd, scary, and sexy characters. There's a love interest but drawn out over books rather than a "love at first site" (which drive me nuts). Piper is an easy character to follow, as she's believable. She has integrity and loyalty. But not infallible.

The narration is awesome. The narrator makes these book addictive and so easy to get drawn into. Her voices are all distinctive.

Seriously - get this book. You will not be able to put it down!

nice surprise

I love finding a book series that isn’t too full of cliches and basically just sex or violence. Then there’s the YA that’s just too juvenile for an adult to enjoy. I took a chance starting this one because I kind of enjoyed a different series of Annette Marie. Despite the dark cover, this was entertaining start. I like the characters.

Can someone give the narrator a cold medicine?

The series itself has potential. Since the main character seems to be a teenager, I take she is portrayed as annoying as she is because she is a teenager in the first book of a series. I mean, one can hope she has to grow and her powers will make her a better person, right? Now, the narrator is another story. What is wrong with her very nasal voice? Was she sick? Does she have a cold? It was painful!

great book

great fantasy story. the story kept me on the edge of wanting to keep listening on; no dull moments, no unnecessary details or description of something not relevant to the story, I enjoyed it very much.

Not Bad

I actually got into the story. It's kinda of interesting. Thinking I will go on to book 2. My main issue is the Narrator, she is very nasal. You end up concentrating on that more than the story.

A solid beginning

I love Annette Marie, and this series has started so well. The narrator is so good, she is able to give different voices to the characters and really shows the story well.

audiobook

I've already read this book and I was interested in hearing it, it's definitely a different experience. This narrator is very good, especially with the different characters. I highly recommend reading the book and listening to the audio book.
