Publisher's summary

From the best-selling author of the Mistborn series and Words of Radiance comes Calamity, the final book in the New York Times best-selling Reckoners series. What started in the instant number-one New York Times best seller Steelheart and continued in the instant number-one New York Times best seller Firefight now concludes in Calamity.

When Calamity lit up the sky, the Epics were born. David's fate has been tied to their villainy ever since that historic night. Steelheart killed his father. Firefight stole his heart. And now Regalia has turned his closest ally into a dangerous enemy.

David knew Prof's secret and kept it even when Prof struggled to control the effects of his Epic powers. But facing Obliteration in Babilar was too much. Once the Reckoners' leader, Prof has now embraced his Epic destiny. He's disappeared into those murky shadows of menace Epics are infamous for the world over, and everyone knows there's no turning back....

But everyone is wrong. Redemption is possible for Epics - Megan proved it. They're not lost. Not completely. And David is just about crazy enough to face down the most powerful High Epic of all to get his friend back. Or die trying.

Climactic Battles Second Chances? as Calamity Ends

When last we left the Reckoners their leader Jonathan Phaedrus had given into his powers. Now David Charleston, “The Steelslayer,” is out to prove that Epics can be redeemed. He and his crew of Epic killers travel to the city of Ildithia, formerly known as Atlanta but now located in Kansas (you’ll find out why and how), where a series of raids, chases, rescues, and stunningly destructive spectacles of both magic and high tech gizmos arises; comic book action at its finest.
This is a terrific ending to a fantastic trilogy and the final outcome was surprising. Like most of Brandon Sanderson’s books the writing is never boring and the narrator, MacLeod Andrews, gives another great performance. I would recommend this trilogy to anyone that likes this genre.

Wow, just wow!

The adventure continues in Brandon Sanderson’s amazing and highly imaginative superhero series The Reckoners. Picking up after a short amount of time has passed since the drama that ensued in FireFight. Prof is a full blown evil epic that has an intricate plan, one that was layed out for him in the previous book.

Without giving anything away I will say this. The mystery of the epic named Calamity is revealed. The secret to the power of the epics is fully disclosed, along with why they go mad when they use their powers. I am not sure if I have daddy issues or something, but the final moments of this audiobook had me in tears, literally sobbing. Pulled my heart out, passed it around for all to see and shoved it back in my chest.

While Calamity wraps up the series pretty well I really hope that Sanderson keeps going with his extraordinary series. It touches everything that I love about audio books. From well-developed characters to really evil bad guys, bad guys that are not all evil, gut-wrenching action, a tolerable love story, tear-jerking emotional bits. And all of this is done while keeping a light-heated attitude towards the story-line.

All that being said. Sanderson had a much deeper exploration going on here. Not only scrutinizing the dark side of human nature. But also shedding light on the good of humanity, the good that happens only when there are no outside influences.

If you have listened to the previous audiobooks and the novella in this series, getting and listening to this one is a no brainer. If you haven’t yet. Please do if you want a unbelievable adventure for the imagination, start at the beginning.

Hands down. This has to be one of, if not the best single narrator performances I’ve ever heard. Macleod Andrews put everything he had into his performance. Not only does he have very well developed characterizations for all of the players, he went the extra distance with this one. Laughing, yelling, grunting, actually sneezing, and I would put money on that he was crying at one point, because I know I was. This performance proves to me once again why Andrews is at near the top of the narrator’s that I keep an eye out for new work.

Sanderson Hits a home run! (Audio & Print)

The Reckoners Series was my 1st Sanderson experience, the entire series was a joy to listen to and read. Although no story is perfect this series is far from being a waist. Amazon or Netflix should buy the rights to this series (spare no expense) and Make a 3 part Live Action Movie - Awesome work Sanderson 2 Thumbs up!

About The Narrator: MacLeod Andrews

The Narrator MacLeod was dead on, really brought the book to life. I have said it a million times when it comes to audio-books You have to invest in a good reader No matter how good the book is if you cut corners and skimp on a the narrator you will be sorry - MacLeod Andrew was perfect! Job Well done Andrews, 2 Thumbs Up!

Calamity along with all the books in the Reckoners series, is a fun, must have, Super SciFi adventure with heartache, Love, Revenge, and redemption that leaves you satisfied but still wanting more.

I HATED IT!

.... Because it ended :(
The whole time I was reading this book, I feel like Sanderson was focusing too much on prof and not enough on calamity. I was afraid that there won't be enough time to explain everything. I was wrong the ending tied up every loose end in such a satisfying way that now I'm just craving for more of the Reckoners! Sadly, I know this is the last book and I don't think Sanderson would (or should) write another Reckoners book, because this is a fitting ending for this great trilogy.

OH Calamity!! Sparks IT IS GOOD!!!!

What a fantastic ending to this trilogy. You can never figure out how things will end when the author is Brandon Sanderson.

Its just great how you can see the development of the characters, and how the plot twists. I have really enjoyed Calamity and at the end things got really really interesting.

The way the story ended was very satisfying, sparks but it was good!

Narration was excellent, Macleod Andrews did a great job in narrating this trilogy.

Terrible Ending. Author Cheated Us.

This is my first review of all the books I have listened to since this isn't my style, yet, for this one I felt a need to make an exception. If anyone is thinking about starting this trilogy, or any trilogy for that matter, they need to see how others feel about the ending. If the ending isn't consistent with the books leading up to it then the author has cheated you. I loved the first two books a lot and about 95% of this last one, but that 5% ending (and I won't give away any spoilers here) ruined the entire trilogy. The plot, storyline, character action and ending were very abrupt and inconsistent with the rest of the books. THAT IS NOT how Calamity would have reacted, but I guess Brandon Sanderson just got tired of writing or had to meet a deadline. My strong recommendation would be to read the lower reviews on Amazon. The poor reviews pretty much have one thing in common, the ending. Whatever effort and details an author puts into the beginning books in order to pull a reader in needs to be put into the conclusion in order to keep the reader interested in future books/trilogies that they will write. Yeah, I will not be looking for his next series.

Picks up strong and rockets to new heights

The third and last installment brings to journey to a close (or does it). The storyline is powerful. In th last novel, we had some pretty drastic switching of sides. In this new novel we follow those switches to their conclusion. Someone has to go and it is touch and go who and when. How does the romance work out? How does the reckoner and human relationship flourish.

This book and its two previous is X-Man crossed Marvel comics except all of the comics are evil. The Reconkerners job is to find the Achilles heel and exterminate the Epics. MacLeod Andrews does an excellent job of narration.

There is too much great stuff in the novel. You won't find any spoilers here other than for me to proclaim -- listen to it. It is a must read. If you haven't listened to book 1 and 2, do not listen to this, everything is a spoiler in that case. Read the trilogy and enjoy. Big thumbs up.

just kept getting better.

I just finished the series and wow.
Mr. Sanderson, as always, delivers an amazing story with characters to match.
But then there is MacLeod, the narrator.
I'll say this, I prefer to read books, there is something intimate about creating characters in your imagination as you read their stories. But MacLeod does such an amazing job of narration, that I was able to get there without having to actually read the story myself.
maybe this is a testament to how good a writer Mr. Sanderson is, but I will give credit to Mr. Andrews skills too.

p.s. I will be looking for more books read by MacLeod, even if I do not know the authors.
