Publisher's summary

In Bones of the Dragon, Skylan Ivorson is a sea-raider of the Vindras, an undefeated champion of the Torgun clan, and eventually the Chief of Chiefs of all Vindras clans, an honor he truly feels he deserves as one who has been blessed by Skoval, the god of war. But sometimes a blessing is a curse in disguise.

Skoval and the other ancient gods are under siege from a new generation of gods who are challenging them for the powers of creation...and the only way to stop these brash interlopers lies within the mysterious and hidden Five Bones of the Vektan Dragons.

It will be up to the Vindras, the dragon-goddess's champion, to undertake the quest to recover all Five. The fate of the Old Gods and the Vindras' people rests on their recovery, for this is not only a quest to save the world - it is also a quest for redemption.

Filled with heroes and heroines young and old (as well as human and non) spanning locales of exotic adventure in a magic-forged world, the Dragonships of Vindras series fully illustrates the mastery of world-building and storytelling that has made Weis and Hickman into the best-selling fantasy co-authors of all time.

Don't waist your time, money or credits!

I would give this book a zero if I could.

I listened to over half the book hoping that it would get better but it never did.

I don't like the main character, I don't like the focus on the gods, I don't like the battle scenes, and I dislike the writing style.

They have fallen very far since Dragon Lance

Extremely Disappointed!!

I really thought that any book by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman would be safe to share with my children. I have purchased and loved their works for over 30 years, and never before found a profane word in any of their books. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when "f" bombs came out of my speakers while listening to this book!! I refuse to listen any further, and will no longer feel safe purchasing one of their books to share with my children. Why would you do this, Tracy??? The narrator has a very nice deep voice (reminds me of Warf on Star Trek Enterprise), but struggles greatly trying to do the female character voices..would have been much better with a male and female narrator.

Save the credit

I would suggest, if you have something else in mind to listen to, or are deciding between this and another, skip this one..the story moved slow if at all..could never really get where it was going, and i had no connection to any characters really. You may like it, but I would suggest you save the credit and pick something else. Hickman and Weis have missed something here with this one, for me at least..

Dull uninspirational

Main character is a selfishness coward who could be great but nothing but total character flaws. He has no courage and does Not deserve story.

I would rank the book in the middle of the books I have listen to

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The book was good but did have times hat you can easily pause and come back to the book latter

Any additional comments?

I would not have downloaded book if I new they would not have book two available when they offer book three the book really leaves you hanging at the end

Weis & Hickman do it again

Once more, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman have created a stunning world just waiting to pull you in. Their eloquent tale combines with Rudnicki's flowing and ear-catching narration make this a story that should not be missed.

This new tale takes you to Vindras, a realm where magic is called from the bones of dragons. Join Skylan Ivorson, blessed and cursed of the gods, in his quest to uncover the bones of the Vektan, an ancient order of elder dragons. Though Skylan is despised by some of the gods, he is their only hope in defeating the new gods who have been brought to the world.

Steeped in Norse mythology, Viking tradition, and Weis & Hickman's own literary magic, Bones of the Dragon is another fantasy masterpiece.

Turn the speed up on the record player...

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I felt as if he just droned on and on and on. Almost always sounded the same. Was funny because my husband even noticed it in the next room and made a joke about it!It took me about 3/4 way through the book to FINALLY get used to it...

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I would not make a film of this book. Not sure if it was because of the narrator or the fact that the main character is so annoying..

Decent for fans of the authors and genre

This is a decent story. The plot gets more interesting the further into it you get. It feels more like it was written for a younger audience. The telling of the story and sentence structure felt geared towards a juvenile. That could just be my perception. The reader...I found myself growing tired of listening to Worf after a couple hours. Overall, probably more of a 3.5 (when do we get half stars, Audible?). Decent, but not the authors' best work.

Great book

Loved the book. Wish audible had the second book in series available. The authors once again failed to disappoint. Narrator was incredible.
