Nobody talks like that!
As the story went on, I got more and more annoyed with this book. At first, I wasn't sure if it was an issue with the narrator... he's got one voice for pretty much everyone and it has a bit of a cowboy sound to it, which wouldn't normally be my favorite, but it works for the main character. I thought the issue was that the narrator's voice didn't really match the dialogue, which is either the vocabulary of an awkwardly smart person or someone who isn't that smart, but wants you to think they are.
At some point in the book though, I realized that it's not the narrator... NOBODY speaks like that! Well, SOME people do... awkwardly smart people and people who want you to think they're smarter than they are! In this book though, EVERYONE speaks like that! Always saying "children" instead of "kids", "prepare for" instead of "got ready", "observed" instead of "watched", etc, etc. In fact, besides the bad guys, everybody is damn near the same character! With the same skills, the same knowledge, and the same morals.
Ok, I'm done complaining.

Do yourself a favor and skip this one
The story is dumb, the dialogue is ridiculous, and there is nothing new in the story that you haven't read in the authors other books.
