Publisher's summary

Dragged to an unfamiliar continent transformed by war and monstrous creatures, Cleve's path home has never been less clear. With a place in a king's plot, a princess who wants to marry him, and the companionship of a brash Sartious mage, Cleve learns that - while some battles are won with a sword - others are played out through a more delicate dance.

But Cleve has never been one for delicacy.

Soon he's making tidal waves in every puddle he crosses on his path to return home.

NOTE: It's recommended that Bastial Energy and The Sartious Mage be listened to before this novel, but it doesn't matter which book is listened to first between those two.

poor narration

Awkward pauses & A monotone voice summarize the narration of this great book. I love this series but the narration was so bad that I couldn't hardly pay attention

Good story-bad narration

I enjoyed the story which is the only reason I made it through. The narration was not very good though. It is quite mechanical. It is hard enough when narrators are changes mid series, and to go down in quality like this, is even harder. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the option to read the book due to listening to the stories while I work. I hope the next books are narrated by another voice.

Great addition to the series, great narration!

Any additional comments?

I really have enjoyed this series quite a bit, but was a bit apprehensive about this title since the author went with a different narrator; however I was very pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the new narrator. I normally hate when authors go with a new narrorator because I attach their voice with the characters and the storyline, but this felt like a very smooth transition. (I listened to these titles back to back) I didn't think twice about the new narrator, he did a fantastic job.

The story continues after book 1 and 1.5, and I suggest that you read/listen to both title before this book. The previous books both lead into this title, and it seems to bring them together well.

Review

It was not the best story I have ever read or listened to but still enjoyable. however, the narrator was, quite frankly, awful. His intonation and expression is almost non-existent and his emphasis is in all the wrong places. also, he makes the characters seem bland and whiney.

Blah

I didn’t care for this book. The narrator is mechanical and doesn’t have much variety in voices, plus the story seems to just drag on in lots of places like the author was trying to fill pages. I liked the other books but this one sucks. I’ll try the next one if it’s a different narrator.

Study Human Relationships

B.T. Narro is a great writer who is constantly brought low by his lack of knowledge of the laws of attraction. There is a reason why Bad A** super stars like Cliv don’t exist in real life. They can’t. The relationship between Cliv and his BFF would not exist outside of fiction.

Study relationships and the laws of attraction, my suspense of disbelief is struggling to follow this without saying “not realistic”. The way Cliv finds love in the first book was already hard enough to believe as anything more than lustful desire. Book 1.5 is more realistic(if a bit strange due to circumstance), though the time frame should have been longer than a couple days.

Naturally this entire book (book 2) is very far from the reality of love and desire. It wouldn’t have been so bad had you not made the entire book revolving around relationships and then failed to deliver on believable situations.
