Publisher's Summary

The Wizards Guild has been shattered by a coup and, in the uproar, Geralt was seriously injured. The Witcher is supposed to be a guardian of the innocent, a protector of those in need, a defender against powerful and dangerous monsters that prey on men in dark times. But now that dark times have fallen upon the world, Geralt is helpless until he has recovered from his injuries.
While war rages across all of the lands, the future of magic is under threat and those sorcerers who survive are determined to protect it. It's an impossible situation in which to find one girl - Ciri, the heiress to the throne of Cintra, has vanished - until a rumour places her in the Niflgaard court, preparing to marry the Emperor. Injured or not, Geralt has a rescue mission on his hands.
This is the third of the Witcher novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. Read by Peter Kenny.

My favorite out of the saga so far!

The characters, the way the story unravels, leaves you wondering while listening attentively..
Out of the 5 I've read, this one I think was my favorite. The new characters introduced here captured my attention and, as someone who played The Witcher 3 before starting the books, provided much needed context

Great performance, gritty fantasy

The range of voices and accents was amazing. Dwarves voices were excellent. read the series.

Very much the middle of a Saga!

I love these books, but this suffers from very little being able to happen. the story is still good and there are nice moments, but little in the way of satisfaction. it feels like story that has to be told to get to the end of the overarching story.

Geralt of Rivia

Babtised in fire, Geralt learns the meaning of friendship and gains more than just a story to his name. Introducing Zoltan and the return of Dandelion. Great book!

Excellent with one exception!

Excellent except for the pronunciation of Dandelion's name, as it is said like the flower.
