Publisher's Summary

With the Dark Angels spread across a hundred systems, primarch Lion El'Jonson stands as Lord Protector of Ultramar - though his true motives are known to few indeed, and old rivalries on the home world threaten to tear the Legion in half.
But when word comes of the Night Lords' attack on Sotha, the Lion's brutal actions bring Imperium Secundus once again to the brink of civil war. Not even the most fearsome warriors of the Dreadwing, nor any arcane secret of the Order, can guarantee victory if he sets himself against his loyal brothers.

Slow, but carries weight in the overall story.

The story itself is certainly well done, but the pacing left me shocked when the end arrived. The dialogue between the primarchs is amazing as always, but the action on Caliban left me bored.

Primarchs flapping lips

No slight on the writer’s ability but this one’s probably for the hardcore followers of 40k lore. Almost entirely description/standing around and talking.

Wasn't my favourite

After Pharos and Master of Mankind this was not as engaging and took some effort to finish. A combination of monotonous voice acting and nothing to really make me interested in the First Legion who come across as confusing with too many secret motivations to make them relatable.
