Publisher's summary

Merry Gentry, ex-private detective and full-time princess, is now the mother of triplets, a rarity in the high ranks of faerie. And not everyone is happy about it, including Taranis, King of Light and Illusion. He’s using the human courts to sue for visitation rights, claiming that one of the babies is his. To save herself and her children, Merry will use the most dangerous powers in all of faerie: A god of death, a warrior known as the Darkness, the Killing Frost, and a king of nightmares. They are her lovers, and her dearest loves, and they will face down the might of the high courts of faerie - while trying to keep the war from spreading to innocent humans in Los Angeles, who are in danger of becoming collateral damage.

Narration not for me

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who had not listened to the other books

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Shiver of Light?

The babies!

How could the performance have been better?

Quit changing narrators. If you have to make changes, PLEASE find someone who can do multiple voices and not just try to change accents. It seemed she even forgot which voice/accent belonged to which character.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I got a printed book and loved it. I enjoyed revisiting the characters and story. I hope there are more books in this series.

Any additional comments?

Don't let the narration put you off the book or the series. If you can't get into the narration, read it. It will not disappoint.

Laurell did it again!!!!

This was my first time listening to an audio version of one of her books. I've read and own all previous Meredith Gentry stories. The narrator was great had a good voice and brought each character their own flare. It was sexy fun and memorable. Laurell is addictive with her writings. If you haven't started reading her work I recommend her. 5* 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Disappointed

This story could have been so much more. Heavy on sex but light on adventure and an overall storyline. Unfortunately, this has become typical for Hamilton books of late.

Absolutely love the performance.

The story was awesome . Spot on with continuing the story line for the series. The reader did excellent voices. I will be looking for more books read by her. This is one of my favorite series. Especially since Anita jumped the shark. This book definitely didn't disappoint. I loved everything about it.

The narration is weird

This Audio book was a struggle, the narrator kept forgetting which accents to use. Americans sounded British, Doyle sounded Scottish and several different characters had evolving accents throughout the book. Several names and words were mispronounced on and off. The story is GREAT. I love this series, this particular narration is just hard to listen to.

Great read and suspense!

This was a great follow up to the other books and I can only assume that the only reason that other readers disliked this book because it was as steamy as the others but it had a lot of new info and filled in a lot of gaps and left you waiting with anticipation for the next installment!

Bring Back Laural Merlington

The narrator for this was just so wrong! Bring back Laural Merlington as narrator. I hope she is back if there is another book.

i dont know if ill ever get board of the meryy gentry series...im upset my fav character experienced what he did...but thats okay. it was a good story anyway. LKH always gives me the right flow in her stories. glad she finally broke of her writer's block in the MG series. cant wait for the next one.

I like most her work however love the series

I will be sad to see this series stop at 9 books.
I love all the characters she makes you fall in love with each of them. as always she is a brilliant writer and it shows in the story.
the only downfall I found what I got used to the other book on audio and it's has a different reader this one made the characters almost Scottish throughout the book which was kind of annoying because they weren't before in all other of the eight books but other than that it was brilliantly done.

Another Hit ...

I read a lot of negative reviews on this book, however, because I am a fan of Laurell Hamilton's writing, I pushed ahead and read it. Let me say this to all of those negative folks ... this book is what we call a "transition" novel in a "series" setting. We are introduced to the babies, in detail, and we are called to see the world and the people they will rule and live with in their life to come. All these details were necessary to go forward into the next book in this "Series".

If you are looking for stand alone novels, this is not the place. I am a lover of the "series", therefore, I love Laurell Hamilton and her series. I also love Karen Moning and her series. So, it was easy for me to see this last book for what it was and it really set us up for some very exciting books in the future. Can't Wait. Anyone who loves this series, will love Book 9, A Shiver of Light.

By the way, the narrator was fine. Buy it, you will love it.
