Publisher's summary

When the gods go to war, who will stand against their divine fury?

In the thrilling conclusion to the A Fire Beneath the Skin trilogy, the enchanted kingdom of Helva faces a nightmarish future of endless bloodshed, and Rina Veraiin—a young warrior-duchess armed with mysterious, magical tattoos—must use her fantastic powers to save her home from eternal war.

As her far-flung friends scour Helva for additional tattoos to increase her formidable abilities, Rina reckons with an enigmatic death priest...the one whose contract grants her extraordinary magic but demands an awful price. When her debt comes due, can Rina make the ultimate sacrifice?

Deities clash and allies succumb as Rina strives to fulfill her obligation and confront her strange and shocking destiny. Becoming an ink mage taxed Rina's resources to their very limits; now she must become something else, something more, something awesome and terrible.

If she fails, her world will fall.

Fantastic ending to an excellent trilogy

I loved it, all three books. It is one of the best reads of the year.

Great book in a series of excellent books.

This collection of books is outstanding. The base story and development of characters is so on point. I can wait till the next book. The narrator is top notch.

Awesome

Only one glitch, I think. When Marasan and the Bishop arrived at the palace, they shouldn't have known Brasley was there. (Please excuse spelling errors on names if any, I listen to the audio) All 3 books were awesome. Kudos to the narrator. Wonderful job separating characters.

A little rushed

I really liked the book and the rationale behind the magic. It just seemed like the ending was rushed like the author was told in the middle of the 3rd book to end it

Meh

Most characters are just stereotypes of themselves. The female characters are strong and powerful, but only when necessary for the story. Otherwise they're catty, vain and need to be saved. Just when you think the characters grow, they slide back to their original dimensions. The ending leaves a lot to be desired.

Loved this series

The ending was not what I expected. That said, I loved this series. I would like to see more of these characters.

Just okay

It got a little boring for awhile but end picked up toward the end and wasn't bad. If you already read the other 2, you may as will get this one. It is cheap enough to make it okay.

Imaginative

Good third book. Not the way I had it pictures exactly, but quite satisfying. Excellent world and character building. Good battle scenes. I was engaged and cared for the characters and their struggles.

lacking a sound conclusion, rushed ending

Too many missing concepts not explored such as the bracelet... too many characters just die.
