Publisher's summary

A century before A Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros....

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms compiles the first three official prequel novellas to George R. R. Martin's ongoing masterwork, A Song of Ice and Fire.

Before Tyrion Lannister and Podrick Payne, there were Dunk and Egg. A young, naïve but courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals - in stature if not experience.

Tagging along with him is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg - whose true identity must be hidden from all he and Dunk encounter: for in reality he is Aegon Targaryen, and one day he will be king. Improbable heroes though they be, great destinies lie ahead for Dunk and Egg, as do powerful foes, royal intrigue and outrageous exploits.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms brings together for the first time the first three official prequel novellas to George R. R. Martin's ongoing masterwork, A Song of Ice and Fire, set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory.

Critic reviews

Praise for A Song of Ice and Fire: "In the grand epic fantasy tradition, Martin is by far the best...tense, surging, insomnia-inflicting." ( Time Magazine)
"An absorbing, exciting read...Martin's style is so vivid that you will be hooked within a few pages." ( The Times)
"The sheer mind-boggling scope of this epic has sent other fantasy writers away shaking their heads.... Its ambition: to construct the Twelve Caesars of fantasy fiction, with characters so venomous they could eat the Borgias." ( Guardian)
"Colossal, staggering.... Martin captures all the intoxicating complexity of the Wars of the Roses or Imperial Rome in his imaginary world.... The writing is always powerful...." ( SFX)

Great Book

Great stories, very well put together with a nice flow.

I would love a continuation of the series to the point of him becoming Sir Duncan the Tall of the Kingsguard

Egg reminds me so much of Arya!!!

This book is absolutely amazing, George R. R. Martin did once again what he does best, if you wanna know Ser Duncan the Tall’s(mentioned a few times in TGOT TV show) childhood as well as that of King Aegon V Targaryen, this is the book for you...
Enjoy😘

The reading is a bit childlike for the material.

The reading is too innocent and more fitting to a teen adventure. There are free readings online if this series that I enjoyed slightly more.

Two words: Absolutely Wonderful

Harry Lloyd has portrayed every character so wonderfully. It was a true joy. We are know about G.R.R.M but Lloyd added a wonderful beauty to it.

Loved it

Great story and Harry Lloyd does all its characters justice with his varied accents. A worthy successor to the late Roy Dotrice, who narrated the main books.
