I won't he promised. Smart women are so damn sexy.
There has been a lot of ranting and raving about this book and the narrator Ray Porter.
The reason is because it is a great book. It starts out really good and you think it is a scary house book, but it is so much more. The book just gets better and better as it goes along. Toward the end of the first downloaded part, I was thinking they are about to solve, this, what are they going to do for the next six hours. Well, they did plenty.
I also like how well the author knows what it is like to be a working stiff. Most of these people are in this apartment because it is cheap and Cline seems to have some real experience on what it is like to live around the poverty level. He understands the dreams and struggles of the working man and woman. There is some good character development in this book.
Ray Porter is excellent.
Check this book out, you will like it.

I'm sure I can't say here anything that hasn't already been said, however I was so impressed, I felt like I had to. I also don't want to reveal anything, because the minimal knowledge I had before listening made the unfolding of the story so much more fun! This was such a solid listen on all fronts. The characters were engaging, the story interesting, the source of the mystery was terrific. By the time it had ended I wanted to hear more!
The absolute best thing, though, was the narrator. If there were some way I could give Ray Porter more than 5 stars, I'd give him an enthusiastic 10! His accents were credible, pronunciation:impeccable, and timing and flow: spot on! The thing I loved the most is that his interpretation never got in the way of the story he was telling. I've never found a narrator, aside from Jim Dale, I felt I would gush about - Ray Porter is gush-worthy!

The blurb on this one didn't really appeal, so it was with hesitation that I bought it. So glad I took the plunge.
I can see why another reviewer may not have liked the last quarter of the story.....but on balance, it didn't detract sufficiently from the rest of the story to warrant a lower rating. This was a great listen. The quiet dread starts to build from the opening scene, and keeps building (intentional excessive use of "building"), despite the light-hearted tone of the characters. On balance, this is book is good entertainment.
It's not possible to say anything else about the plot without giving too much away. I knew it was sci-fi, but I had no inkling of what was coming for at least 3/4 of the book. It kept me listening into the small hours more than once.....so much for getting a good night's sleep courtesy of the building (not a spoiler of consequence!). Now I know why the editor's intro says what it does....but it doesn't really give much of a clue.
Narration was excellent.
Not surprising that Audible.com selected this as its best sci-fi novel of 2012 - just sorry I took so long to listen to it.

I didn't know what to expect with this one, I got it because I really enjoyed clines other creations.
But I quickly fell in love with the whole story, you get to know each and every character and the twists are great.
It is hard to review without giving anything away, alls I can say is very enjoyable and really well narrated to the point where you can easily pick out each character by the narration.

WOW, what a great book, I didn't want it to end. It had many different aspects - starting off with us getting to know a group of people renting an apartment building. A small group formed a friendship and began to explore the building. This led to mystery and lots of unanswered questions. Suddenly it was all Sci Fi and I loved every word, sentence, paragraph, chapter. Is this a movie? If it isn't then it should be.
I am so glad I found this author, now to see what else the wonderful Mr Peter Clines has written....

I couldn't get enough of this novel. It was really interesting. I loved how it integrated real life history/people in to the storyline to make the story more believable.
If you like conspiracy theory fiction, then you just might like this. It's great FUN.
