Publisher's summary

Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson's Navigators of Dune is the climactic finale of the Great Schools of Dune trilogy, set 10,000 years before Frank Herbert's classic Dune.

The story line tells the origins of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood and its breeding program, the human-computer Mentats, and the Navigators (the Spacing Guild), as well as a crucial battle for the future of the human race, in which reason faces off against fanaticism. These events have far-reaching consequences that will set the stage for Dune, millennia later.

Featured Article: The Most Stellar Sci-Fi Authors of All Time

Science fiction is a genre as diverse as you can imagine. There are stories that take place in deep space, often depicting teams exploring or running away from something; stories that focus on life at the most cellular level, such as a pandemic tale; and stories that take place in times that feel similar to our own. Depicting themes of existentialism, philosophy, hubris, and personal and historical trauma, sci-fi has a cadre of topics and moods.

love the entire dune universe.

I have always loved and cherished the dune universe since reading dune for the first time. Is wonderful to have a bit more insight into the people, events, and forces that shaped it

Primer for the uninitiated , filler for the rest

Having only watched the movie and never read any of the books, I figured this would be a good start I was not disappointed until I found out this was the third in a series and now I have to wait a month the listen to the other two.

Awesome

Another masterpiece by the authors. I can’t wait to download the next book in the series so I know what is going to happen next.

The best narrator

Scott Brick is my favorite narrator. He always draws me in until I can't stop listening.

decent book, could have had a more planned out end

a good book overall, especially if one likes to be in the dune universe. Faster pace than the previous mentat book and has the action packed Atredies vs Harkonen led sisterhood, but the best part I would say is how Corino's finally beat/balance the forces of faith and technology to make the imperium we know later. The arasmus time line needed more polish though.

Riveting story

The many plot twists and cliff hangers keep you on edge and make this book hard to put down, great read!

Enjoyed but was ready for it to end

I like the stories continuation, but it is really repetitive with regards to motivations.
Is this the end or can we expect more filler.
