Publisher's summary

The Terran Commonwealth has proved a nigh-unstoppable juggernaut in its war against the smaller Castle Federation and her allies, but an almost accidental victory by Captain Kyle Roberts of the carrier Avalon has opened a chink in its armor. Desperate to change the course of a war they are rapidly losing, the Federation assembles a new forward fleet with orders to retake the systems that have fallen to the enemy.

Outnumbered but on the offensive at last, Kyle Roberts must take a hastily assembled battle group back to the worlds the Alliance failed to defend. There he will live or die by the skills of his soldiers and the honor of his enemies.

Some details i just dont Need

What would have made Battle Group Avalon better?

A number of Gender and Relationship details were totally unnecessary to the story line. The elaboration was excessive in those respects. I found it distasteful and would have omitted most of that part of the story. It felt as though the writer was trying to justify something that would be better if left unforced.

What did you like best about this story?

The details in planning the Missions was fantastic. As was the remaining dynamic and continuity. The characters were well defined so it was easy to imagine the scenes of the story as it progressed.

What about Eric Michael Summerer’s performance did you like?

Eric's performance was impeccable . He brought the characters to life throughout the story. Id look forward to more audiobooks performed by him.

Series seems to have hit its wall

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It's simply riding on the coattails of the prior books in the series. Basically one long space battle full of near misses. Nothing original or thought-provoking, so a disappointment.

A fifteen minute story stretched to eleven hours.

A lot of cliched dialog mixed with excessive technical jargon. it just didn't hold my interest.

Good not Great, but still entertaining.

Where does Battle Group Avalon rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's a decent space opera. Not up to the level of the Ember War Series, or Expeditionary Force, but it is entertaining.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I really tire of the Heterosexual (most / Homosexual / Hyper-sexual / Hermaphrodite thing that keeps coming up. WE GET IT GLYNN!! You think in the 28th Century all sexuality will be accepted. It just takes away from a story about resisting tyranny.

Another painful read

Same as others in series. Under dog versus might power. The side plots are lame and cliche. I bought first three books in series because I had some planned time to kill. Not buying the last book.

Enjoyed immensely !

I've listened to all three of this series and highly recommend them ! A librarian friend of mine bird dogged this author for me . Not all of her books appeal to me , But lt is my hope this author continues this series . Awesome !

quickly written pulp sci-fi

there's really no tension at all in this story, we know the hero will pull another rabbit out of his hat to win the day. Also there's almost zero character development in of the characters, they're all just cardboard. The Author constantly adjusted the capabilities of tge tech to in a vain attempt to add tension, missiles have shorter or longer ranges, armor is effective or not effective, often shielding seems non-existent, etc.

Very disapointed. Nothing but battles.

This book is 11 1/2 hours of battle after battle after battle, and they're all pretty much the same. I love military scifi, but this is the extreme end of that genre - it's nothing but battles. I have several hundred military scifi books in my library that I've listened to, and none of them come close to this amount of non-stop fighting that this book has. If that's your thing, then this is the book for you. If you like to mix in some character development and some storyline between the battle, this isn't for you.

I have the first 6 books in my library - free via the plus catalogue - and I won't be listening to the last three, even though I have them in my library. Very disappointed.

Great series due to characters & action

I loved about all of these first books in series. Looking for more great books from Glynn Stewart & Eric S. It is good marketing by Audible, but I can’t afford the last books in this great, great series individually. Tempting!
