Publisher's summary

A cowboy through and through, ranch owner Mallory Kirk knows what it means to put in a full day’s work. But does his new cowgirl? He has his doubts that Morie Brannt will be able to pull her own weight, even if the petite young woman does seem to have a lot of spirit. As they spar over events at the ranch and a past that threatens their hopes for the future, sparks begin to fly, and Mallory can’t help but notice Morie in a new light. But is this tough Wyoming man ready to love?

Handsome rancher's new ranch hand hides a surprise

What did you love best about Wyoming Tough?

I enjoyed the ins and outs of everyday ranch work as described in the book as I grew up around cowboys and ranch hands myself. There is a good storyline here and Mallory Kirk is a very strong character. Surprised however that he was so easily fooled by the rag girlfriend who could not leave quick enough for me. Morie Brannt is a very strong heroine in this story. Gives as good as she gets though she is still vulnerable to her feelings for him. She of course, is hiding things from him as all heroines seem to do. Lots of good support characters who I am sure will get books or make appearances in later books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Wyoming Tough?

The scene at her father's ranch when Mallory is finally presented with the truth. Hard for a strong man like him to face all his mistakes in front of all those people. He is a good man after all.

Which scene was your favorite?

I had many that I enjoyed and can't decide on any one over the other that I would listen to over and over. There are many funny and sad moments in the story that bear hearing again.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Not good at tag lines so will not try here.

Any additional comments?

I like the way Phil does all the male characters. He does suttle accents very well and does a very good drawl. I like to be able to tell a character is older and he does that well too. I do wish that his women's voices were better. They are more times than not too high pitched and more annoying than sensual. Love scenes can be tough indeed when the woman sounds like that. Hopefully that will improve one day because he is really a very good narrator.

Great Start

This book is the start of a great trilogy. Very well written and beautifully romantic. Can't wait till the whole series gets out.

HO hum~ Another Heroine with a SECRET~ 3 STARS

PLOT: rich Mallory Kane notices the new hired hand lovely Morie~

Standard wealthy Palmer heroine who gets her first JOB on Mallory Kanes Cattle Ranch. Morrie is lovely and innocent and is very attracted to sexy boss Mallory but at his side is Gaeli his nasty lady friend who lets NO one stand in her way. Typical Palmer fare but she has lost the abusive HERO thank God~ this one drags a bit going over and over characters from her previous books. Morie finally is fired after Gaeli plants evidance she stole. and the Hero finally has his eyes opened ~ WE need more passion here Diana and less going endlessly how inept Morie is. I have to give this one 1 star for performer~ Phil is a wonderful reader but when he tries to imitate a FEMALE voice it makes me cringe ~ romance audio is better with female readers~ hint hint hint~ BETTER than some of Diana's later novels~ I give this one 3 stars for over all story, 1 star for MALE voice trying be female and 3 stars for over all ~ and where is the Passion Diana?? you seemed to have forgottent that. and how about RELEASING SOME OF HER EARLIER TITLES??? HINT HINT HINT~ THOSE ARE HER VERY BEST STORIES ANY WAY~

a little disappointed, but oh that cowboy drawl!

Not too crazy for the love story. I need a little more fireworks and deeper connection between the lovers. It just seemed too fast and blah. But Phil Gigante's voice kept me listening. God that drawl is hot! Other reviews critique his female voice, but I have yet to hear anything better from a man. No squeaky falsetto here.

GREAT STORY GREAT COWBOY NARRATION TERRIBLE WOMANS

What did you like best about Wyoming Tough? What did you like least?

Really enjoyed this story, somewhat ruined however by the narrators womens voice!! was the most wimpy annoying voice ever, completely ruined the mood. Did an amazing manly cowboy narration though so cannot say the narrator was completely terrible just wish they had done something else for the womans.

ew

I couldn't get past the fake accents in the narration, the unrealistic story, and the gross man-interested-in-child storyline.

Disappointed!

I enjoy westerns and I'm a big fan of John Wayne and Tom Selleck. Yet, I am bewildered by this authors constant cry of being religious, then having explicit sex scenes. I don't but it. Besides, religion is man made and can be twisted any way you want, as evidenced in this book. It was an interesting story well read by the narrator, soiled by the soft porn. It's really too bad.

There are definitely some weaknesses in the story

Ok, the whole mystery part of the story wasn't bad. There are a lot of characters that started to have a personality, but it just wasn't developed. The thing that just didn't do it for me was the romance arc. I'll try to write this without spoilers.

The h was okay...not entirely believable, but fine. Suspend disbelief. That she works at this ranch for a "couple of weeks" and she and the H get to their HEA being madly in love (come on..that's not a spoiler...we KNEW this part would happen) while the H was supposedly dating this other hateful woman the entire time is completely unbelievable. There is absolutely NO storybuilding in this aspect. Just zero to heart-eyes in a couple of weeks? All the while, the H is allowing the hateful woman to be a heinous bitch to the h?

The other thing that just probably should have been left off was the sex scene. Yes, there is one. And it's absolutely cringeworthy AND unrealistic. AND the h is in her 20's and has only touched her "private place" (yes..it was actually referred to in those terms) when bathing? And when he drops trow the first time he actually says "as you can see I'm more endowed than most men". Yeah. THAT cringeworthy. ...proceeds to make her O twice on her first time with no external stimulation. This is like one of those "clean romance" or "Christian romance" type stories with a non-steamy sexual encounter at the end.

So I wasn't feeling the chemistry at all and nothing in the story supported the relationship purported to be "forever" in the HEA. That all said...Phil Gigante's voice. OMG. He did so much with so little story and is the only reason I finished it. Well...that and the abrupt ending. lol
