Publisher's summary

Emperor Wray Vasteri was the ruler of the Tornian Empire. His house had ruled the empire ever since the great infection, which struck over 500 years ago, and he feared he would be the last. The number of compatible females was dwindling faster than anyone knew. If they could not find compatible females soon, their entire civilization would cease to exist. It was the reason he agreed to meet with Liron, the emperor of the Kaliszian Empire in Kaliszian space. It was the only reason they had crossed paths with a Ganglian ship leaving Tornian space, and it was the only reason that the small female was discovered. Could she be what they had been searching for?

Wray found himself drawn to the small female he'd found beaten and abused on the Ganglian ship. She resembled a Tornian female but was much smaller. Could she be what he had been searching for?

Kim Teel has had a hard life - at least she thought she had until her parents were suddenly killed, and then her sister and brother-in-law disappeared. At 19 she realized she'd been protected from all of life's hardships. She had been cared for and loved her entire life and had come to expect it. She was terribly spoiled. Determined to change her ways, Kim went looking for her sister, only to be captured by the Ganglians, and it was then she learned what happened to the unprotected females of the universe.

Wray and Kim are both doing the same thing - trying to survive. But what they find is that there are more important things than just survival. And once they learn that, the universe changes forever.

Loved the sound effects!

What did you love best about Wray?

I have two ratings for Wray; first and foremost, I purchased this as an Audiobook, and I want it to be known that is was, by far, one of the most entertaining audiobooks I have ever listened to! With all of different narrators voicing the different characters, it reminded me of listening to AM radio mystery theater, back when I was a kid coming home on long drives. There was the background noise like actually being in the spaceships, or hearing waterfalls and then just general sound effects, like swards crashing together, it was totally awesome! I have never encountered an audiobook that did this, and I had so much fun! I am hoping the others in the series do the same! Also, all the narrator did a tremendous job of bringing their characters to life, I loved it!

Now for the actual story, I am just so frustrated with Tornians as a whole. They are supposed to revere women, and treat them as treasures. Yet a lot of their actions are so contradictory, but that’s the kicker you see, they only see Tornian females, as women worthy of being treasured. Oh the fools!

Wray stumbles upon Kim, who was kidnapped by another species, the Ganglian, who have horribly abused her for weeks. Wray being an honorable man/Tornian, whatever, rescues Kim and in the processes of taking her back to his ship, they crash on a planet and are stranded there for days. That is where Wray and Kim fall in love, naturally with these types of stories. I liked Kim, she was strong, and took on everything dished out to her better than most would; especially, the attack. That’s why I think her running into Wrays arms so soon is far-fetched, but then who am I kidding right? This is a 7’ tall alien I’m talking about, hello fiction much!

Overall I liked the story, and I am looking forward to seeing where it goes next. I hope the next one is another Audiobook, narrated like this one! The story gets a 4 and the audio book a 5; 4.5 stars....Sara

A fabulous adventure

This is one of the most amazing audios I have heard. Some are fairly dry, but the narrative was very pleasing. Added to the fact that many different actors portrayed different parts, with sound effects and it was more like a movie than a book. A fast paced adventure and I'm praying for more books in this series

Just love M K Eiden. She rooks!

If you could sum up Wray in three words, what would they be?

Fun Romantic Ride.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love all of M K Edien's characters, not only from Wray, and Grim, but more of her books I have read.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

Probably Wray. The female voice belonged to Lisa from the book Grim.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not that I can think of off the top of my head, but I thought it was funny/cute how when Emily was teaching Wray to dance, and she told him that her dad rescued her mom from having her feet stepped on by another guy.

Any additional comments?

Yes: there are at least two more M K Ediem books out there, they need to be put on audible. M K Ediem's books are the best, and I think it's a shame that you do not have all of her published books.

Trouble Blended Families on Alien Planets

Kim, an Earth female, was kidnapped by an alien Ganglian, and daily raped & tortured by "stinky bastard" until the Torinian ship intercepted the Ganglian ship to see what it was doing in their air space. It was there they found several dead Earthlings and Kim.

Kim was the first Earthling Torinians have ever met or heard of. Kim had no idea how long she was with the Ganglian. Wray, who saved her was able to give a timeline as Ganglian only can have sex once a day and apparently he bit her fingers when he finished. When he ran out of fingers he would bit her else where leaving scars. Wray figured Kim was with the Ganglian for about two weeks.

As the story progresses, Kim learns Wray is the Torinian Emperor. Kim also learns that that Torinian males have been raping females and using their own law to their advantage. Kim, who was almost raped again by Wray's own guard, brought the problem to Wray immediately as their own people cannot walk outside their own homes without being assaulted.

The story also has kidnappings, assault, treason and the making of a new Emperor. It is similar to the first book, but just as entertaining.

Another Great Listen in the Series

I admit although I did love the first book, I was a bit resistant to listen to this one for some reason. Perhaps because I really wasn't too into Kim's story which was covered a good bit in the last story (with good portions of vital points left out). I really wasn't looking forward to the rape portion of the book and the whole depressing feel of her story. The beginning/ ending of the story did make the side into the past much easier to get into and I don't think it could have been done any better.

I will say I was surprised that I did somewhat like this story. Not as much as Grim unfortunately, but more then I thought I would. I think I may have liked it better if I read/ heard it before I heard Grim. I do believe listening to the story does GREATLY improve the entertainment value of these books. Surprisingly there where quite a few more narrators in this book compared to Grim's story. I think this was a great move and added a lot more to the story. The only voice I did not care for (I believe it was the way it was read, not so much the sound) was Prince Tora. He sounded like a bratty snob, with an attitude, pretty much the whole time. Otherwise I really appreciated all the work that went into giving so many characters their own "voice". The sound effects where a lot more in line with the story this time around as well. With sword strikes, ships powering up before take off sounds and powering down upon landing, and a ton of other sounds that match the setting and actions taking place, it adds a much more realistic layer to the story. Unfortunately for me some of it was a little too graphic sounding, as I don't really care to hear the sound of a sword striking flesh. But that is just my preference.

There are also rape scenes in this book. Which as mentioned I didn't care for. Luckily it was a small portion of the book. And perhaps they could have toned down all the sex scenes a little. The fire doesn't needed to be a full tilt burning rage, all the time, to get the point across. And the washing scene in the cave I felt a little uncomfortable with. It felt like a little too much after she had been violated so many times. But I did love the tenderness, affection, and loyalty that Wrath showed to Kim constantly throughout the whole story. That was enjoyable.

If you do listen to this book, do it at least to fill in the gaps. It does explain A LOT about what the heck is going on in the first book. (Ya, it probably would be better to listen to this one first, as it does happen before Grim in the story time line.) All in all a good listen, just not my favorite, and probably not one I'll listen to again. BUT I am looking forward to Ynyr's story, and I know I'll have a greater enjoyment out of it because of what I learned in this book. So I guess that makes it worth the credit or sale price.
