Publisher's summary

Emperor Wray Vasteri was the ruler of the Tornian Empire. His house had ruled the empire ever since the great infection, which struck over 500 years ago, and he feared he would be the last. The number of compatible females was dwindling faster than anyone knew. If they could not find compatible females soon, their entire civilization would cease to exist. It was the reason he agreed to meet with Liron, the emperor of the Kaliszian Empire in Kaliszian space. It was the only reason they had crossed paths with a Ganglian ship leaving Tornian space, and it was the only reason that the small female was discovered. Could she be what they had been searching for?

Wray found himself drawn to the small female he'd found beaten and abused on the Ganglian ship. She resembled a Tornian female but was much smaller. Could she be what he had been searching for?

Kim Teel has had a hard life - at least she thought she had until her parents were suddenly killed, and then her sister and brother-in-law disappeared. At 19 she realized she'd been protected from all of life's hardships. She had been cared for and loved her entire life and had come to expect it. She was terribly spoiled. Determined to change her ways, Kim went looking for her sister, only to be captured by the Ganglians, and it was then she learned what happened to the unprotected females of the universe.

Wray and Kim are both doing the same thing - trying to survive. But what they find is that there are more important things than just survival. And once they learn that, the universe changes forever.

HE SAVED HER & KEPT HER... BUT IT WASN'T EASY

Kim has had a terrible time after being kidnapped by the smelly, hairy and cruel Ganglian's who abused and raped her (no scenes) and so her rescue by Emperor Wray came just in time to save her life. As Wray slowly cleaned and looked after the unconscious female his protective side surfaced and so too did his attraction to the tiny frail looking redhead. But Kim was thankfully unaware of everything because her problems weren't over as they crash landed and were stranded, alone, on a desolate Planet. So, when she finally woke up, it was to see the huge handsome Alien Warrior who rescued her and he was lying nestled next to her.

Wray wanted this brave female to see the tender Tornian rather than the privileged Emperor so he kept his status back while they slowly learnt about each other and the deep chemistry between them grew along with their desire for each other. However, their rescue brought some shocking acts and revealed that the Tornian culture was anything but perfect..... and the strong-willed and determined Kim was about to shake up their beliefs, their expectations and the Tornian world. Unfortunately, she made some cruel and vindictive enemies along the way who thought their lives would run much much smoother if she wasn't around..... but a Goddess had some bountiful plans for this Human woman.

In book 1 (Grim) we've already met the Emperor and his Empress so we know the couple have a strong loving relationship, are happy together and, in the Prologue, it gives away something important which, IMHO, I would've loved to have experienced and shared in the 'event' towards the end instead of it being skimmed over in a sweet, but too short, Epilogue. However, apart from that, this was another wonderful glimpse into the lives and loves of the sexy Tornian Warriors, their loyalties and their need for females..... even when they come in the form of a tiny, opinionated, stubborn yet loving Earthling.

Multiple POV's, a great cast of characters and narrators who made the Chapters flow like actual conversations, there were sound effects which was unusual at first but became just a normal part of the listen and a loving sexy romance that had it's full share of angst and dramas as well as highs and lows. There were a few loose ends but hopefully they will be dealt with in the next book.

Worth a credit? Some might think that Kim and Wray's relationship developed too quickly but it did leave plenty of room for all the challenges that awaited the couple as they desperately struggled to meld two cultures together. And along the way they encountered surprises, animosity, resentment, anger, hostility, bitter sly enemies, discrimination, prejudices, danger and culture clashes. However, they also developed friendships, created a family, gained respect, welcomed Wray's teenage son and changed lives. Lucky for me all this made for a great Sci-Fi listen that was highly enjoyable, entertaining and rewarding and I'm glad to say it made a very creditworthy listen.

AUDIBLE - PLEASE GET ALL THE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES!

At first I was a little let down by this book....I think "Grim" is a little better then "Wray". But then I realized that both books are good, they were just released in the wrong order. Grim is the continuation of the Tornians story, were Wray is the beginning of the story. In Wray we get some of the answers that were left open in Grim.

Wray finds Kim on a slaver's ship when he is on is way home from a meeting with another emperor. She has been beaten, abused, and nearly dead. While taking her back to his ship for more medical treatment, their shuttle is shot down and they crash on a small planet and before they can be rescued, a fierce storm sets in and they are trapped in a cave until the storm passes. So their story begins. While they are trapped in the cave, Wray explains some of the history of his people to Kim and she tells Wray about her family and her dog Warrior. The only thing Wray doesn't tell her is that he is the emperor and it nearly costs him Kim's trust and love. I won't go any further, because I always hate review that give the whole book away. I'll just add that I love the parts were the Great Goddess interacts with both Kim and Wray.

M K Eidem has a great series going with these books and I truly hope Audible gets the rest of them. I enjoy the background sound effect, the people and the worlds he has created. I am also glad they use both male and female narrators, since few narrators can do both parts and to them well.

I hope you enjoy this series as much as I do and now I have to wait for the next book to come out.

Why can't all books be this 'Audible'???!!

I love the stories and all the voice actors. I listened to Grimm 80 billion times. M.K.E is awesome!!!!! I can't wait for the next book. If depicted like this Ynyr (which I read on Kindle & will still buy the Audible for) and Oryon will be great. Great story from a true writer. Love it!!!!

IMHO its good but...

Any additional comments?

I read this in ebook form and thought it was great, then I saw it was in audio so I bought it hoping to listen to re-visit the story as I knew it on ebook form. First off I don't like all the cartoony sounds that come off this audiobook form like the clacking of the computer as he types something or the clang of a closed door or the way he was supposed to roar and it didn't even sound like a roar to me or how he was suppose to growl..etc..all those could have been taken out of the book and leave us listeners to come up with it ourselves in our imagination rather than have the publishers come up with it. I want a book to be a book not sound like it was a cartoon show...it didn't add to my enjoyment rather it took away from my enjoyment of the book. I stopped at when they were still in the caves receiving communication from his men. I couldn't listen further as I was getting pissed off just listening to the accompanying acoustics.!!

Another outstanding story!

The back story of Kim and Wray. Nice to see how one person can impact an entire empire. The Goddess is making things right. 200 men to 1 woman was not a good world for anyone.

Loved It!!!!!

I at first was a little sceptical about the first book Grim but after I listened to it I fell in love. This series is the first series with sound affects that I have ever heard. What was just as great as Grim! Can't wait for the next one!
