Publisher's summary

All Tyler Mercer wanted was to make music - until he met Avery Jenson. The beautiful new girl in town turned his head and struck a chord in his heart. But when their one night of passion results in devastating tragedy, Tyler hits the road, leaving behind his dead-end hometown and the girl he knows he'll never forget.

After her father was caught embezzling, Avery's comfortable life in the city was blown to bits. But meeting Tyler helped to pick up the pieces and eased her into country living. She just never expected the handsome musician would add to her heartbreak by walking away without a backward glance.

Now, three years later, rock star Tyler's come back, hat in hand. He's found fame and fortune as a member of Wicked White, but it's all worth nothing without Avery's love. Can she forgive him for leaving when she needed him most? Or will the ghost of their past keep them apart?

LIGHT ON ROMANCE, WEAK, FLAWED & PASSIVE

Sorry, but I'm so disappointed that this listen didn't work for me.... it was/and felt like a very YA story all the way through because Avery was a spoilt College student/sorority member who met Tyler as she was about to trash her cheating boyfriend's car. Then she had to leave College and town because her Father had lost everything - so they moved in with her Grandmother - who just happened to live in the same town as Tyler. Skip the awkward "I think he/she likes me" meetings, skip the drunken frat-style parties, skip the endless "I want you but made a promise to my now dead Father to leave town and pursue my music career" so that killed any relationship potential - sexually or otherwise. However, after drinks at another party, Tyler gave in to sex once with Avery which had him rethinking his promised plans.... but when he sees the devastation and heartbreak that one time has cost - he says goodbye to everything.... including his best friend and a grieving and now heartbroken, disillusioned and angry Avery.

The story skips three years and picks up with Avery, now 21, owning and managing her own Bar - Tyler comes back into town after making it big and all the hurt, pain and silences are magically INSTANTLY forgiven and forgotten - on both sides because Avery did wrong too... and there's a welcome surprise waiting for Tyler. His priorities and plans suddenly change again and a HEA is reached.

As I said it was very YA all the way through, there were only a couple of sex scenes, no Wicked White Band Members, no Rocker lifestyle, I didn't like Avery at all and Tyler may have been tattooed, hot and handsome but he came over as very young and he didn't have one sexy bad boy Alpha gene in him. I didn't feel any chemistry, lust or love between them, their relationship didn't pull me in, there was off-scene not witnessed drama - so that didn't touch my feelings, there was a bit of drama at the end which was all insignificant, thrown in and unnecessary (not related to the H/H's perfect bubble) and Chapter after Chapter was just tranquil, tepid and dull dull dull. Dual POV's (but mainly Avery's), Carly Robin's narration was preppy YA and Alexander Cendese's female narration needed some work.

Worth a credit? No, and thank God it was only $6.95.... but it's still $6.95 more than I think it's worth. Michelle Valentine what the Hell happened? This is all MY thoughts on this listen - I saw only a lifeless empty Christmas Tree bereft of presents and sparkle.... but you, well you may see the lights, baubles, presents and shiny star.

Awful!

Big spoiler alert!!

I read this book thinking ok The first one was just mediocre but the second one was so amazing so I thought oh they’re getting better as they go but this one was not better it was way worse!! First the narrator was awful made them all sound like absolute idiots then it’s like they told four hours of a pre-story of stuff that isn’t even all that important and then two hours of bs and it was ridiculous and she just forgive him just like oh well we had this horrible tragedy, we killed my dad and I had a baby and I lost my home and living in a hotel but it’s fine if u just take off I still love you you’re right let’s just fall back in love and get together!! It was ridiculous I’m mad I even took the time to two to entertain this book there should be a warning label when books are this stupid !!very disappointing! I gave it two stars because for a min I thought it might be starting to make sense but then took a big nose dive. It was so ridiculous I almost want someone else to read it and be mad with me.. if your looking for Drivel

Young love and second chances

I received this for a honest review through Netgallery. I actually ended up getting the audio as well so I did Whispersync while reading this. I am going to do both ebook and audio book review here. With an audio it is important to have a great narrator. Not only did Michelle Valentine have a great narrator but she had two amazing narrators. Yes you read that right. She use Carly Robins and Alexander Cendese. They both were awesome.

Avery Jenson was getting ready to find out who her real friends were. Here she was at college and was having to deal with one of her sorority sisters cheating with her boyfriend. I just loved how Avery had plan dealing with it. Way to funny. This is also were her and Tyler Mercer met.

Tyler Mercer was smitten. There was something about this crazy girl that pulled him in. He long to get to know more about her. I bet he thought he would never see her again after the party but to his surprise here she was now in his hometown.

Avery’s life was falling apart. Her father’s action had embarrassed her, had taken a life style away that she was use to. I look at this as a blessing. Avery will get a chance to be herself. She will actually rediscover herself. It pulls her away from the snobby people that she was hanging around and might of become. It was giving her a chance to be some one that not only her father and grandmother would be proud of but that she would be proud of as well.

Avery and Tyler will get close. Tyler is a little complicated but he will find it hard to resist Avery’s charms. A man can only take so much before he gives in. Tyler had made some promises to his dad. These promise will also make him feel cursed if he does not fulfill them. Something real bad will happen and Tyler will blame hisself. This will be more the Tyler can handle. Will this destroy Tyler and Avery forever?

I so loved this story. You will find so much in this book; young love, hurt, pain, brokenhearted, selflessness, forgiveness, hope, and second chances.
