A lethal combination for Sheriff Grady Wallace.
With a nickname like "Candi Heart" and a plan to open a frilly lingerie and perfume shop called Heart's Desire, Lark Hensley knows she may raise some eyebrows by moving to quiet little Angel Ridge, Tennessee. She hopes no one remembers that the women in her family were once accused of being seductive witches by townsfolk, and that decades ago her moonshiner grandpa committed a deadly crime. Lark has questions she can't answer and secrets she doesn't want to share, especially with Angel Ridge Sheriff Grady Wallace, even if Grady is hard to resist.
Grady falls hard and quick for the new mystery woman in town, though he's determined to find out what she's hiding. Angel Ridge's one-woman Welcome Committee, Dixie Ferguson, has taken a liking to Candi Heart, and Dixie's instincts about newcomers are rarely wrong. But maybe not this time . . .
Grady never intended to follow the Wallace family tradition of lawmen, but when his father died young, rebellious Grady grew quickly into the role of staunch town defender. Candi Heart may not have meant to bring trouble to his town, but she has.
Someone does remember her family. That someone wants her to leave . . . or to die. An unknown driver tries to run her down. Her shop is broken into. Rumors begin to swirl.
Suddenly Grady is caught between his duty and his heart's desire for Candi Heart.

narrator spoiled the story
Narrator needs practice and/or coaching. There where editing mistakes-lines repeated, words misread. I liked the story but I had to force myself to keep listening because of the poor narration. I had to re-narrate in my head. I am a bit sorry I spent money on this. I wanted to go buy the book and read it instead, but I did pay for it and I did want to know how the story turned out.

Audio seems unedited
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I bought this on sale so I didn't pay much. Because of that I wasn't frustrated with the poor editing. There were many, many, times the audio repeated or the narrator said one thing and then self corrected. Some times it sounded like the narration was spliced together to quickly. The narrator has a great voice and did great with the characters. This review is not a reflection on her ability. I'm not sure if the company accidentally uploaded the unedited file or what but be prepared for numerous errors.

Good book, shame about the narration
This is a lovely book, but the reading of it is poor. Sentences were stumbled over, words or phrases often repeated unnecessarily and the southern accents uncomfortable on the ear. I am sure I heard the reader take a gulp of water early on! It sounded like it was unedited, although there were obvious 'overwrites' to some of the text. This is my first experience of Deborah Grace Kelly and one I suspect I would have enjoyed more had an experienced reader been at the helm. I shall stick with downloading her written word in future!
