Publisher's summary

Lennox Greene is a woman with a rebellious past, which she conceals beneath her conservative clothes. She knows that flirting with her boss, Brady Lund, during working hours is a bad idea. So when the handsome CFO of Lund Industries shows up at her favorite dive bar and catches her cutting loose, she throws caution aside and dares him to do the same.

After sparks fly, Brady finds that keeping his hands off Lennox during office hours is harder than expected. Though she makes him feel alive for the first time in years, a part of him wonders if she's just using him to get ahead. And Lennox must figure out whether Brady wants her for the accomplished woman she is or the bad girl she was.

OPPOSITES ATTRACT.... SWEET, TOUCHING & DRAMA-LITE

What an easy going Contemporary listen this was as the handsome, rich, easygoing, friendly and thoughtful Brady slowly wooed the independent, conscientious, confident and efficient Lennox who takes her job very seriously. As CFO and Office Temp within the same Company their relationship started out as a sensually charged office flirtation but it soon morphed into something stronger, deeper and more passionate as they grew closer and got to know each other. This was very smoothly done because they didn't want to rush headlong into bed with each other and complicate things with sex so instead they got to know one another first. Oh there were some 'climactic' scenes, tender touches and passionate toe curling kisses but they wanted to wait til the right time..... and when the moment finally arrived it was frenzied.

A really nice love story between two very likeable characters - Brady isn't a Playboy type but instead he lacks a social life, he's a bit nerdy, a geek, a workaholic (he even has a bedroom off his office and, yes, it does get some 'use'), he's not a womanizer and he's never seen himself as handsome or sexy either but Lennox is all too willing to help him discover his wild side as well as finding the perfect balance between work and play. And, along the way, Brady uncovers the tattooed and pierced sassy rebel underneath the high necked blouses and pencil skirts. But Lennox has had a rough upbringing and her past comes back to pay her a visit which causes a few paragraphs of trouble. Office politics also causes conflict, misunderstandings and angst but, again, the angst doesn't last long. There was sizzling chemistry, humor and banter between them with some dirty talking and the Lund family members were (and could be) very interesting in future books because they are all successful, rich, handsome (or beautiful) and yet complex individuals.

Sometimes Lennox and Brady did seem a little bit YA and not 28 and 32 however, for me, this didn't detract anything from the enjoyable romance driven storyline. Definitely, and sadly, not as hot and steamy as the other books I've listened to by LJ but the sex scenes were still good. The narrator was ok but there were a few times when I just couldn't differentiate between mere thoughts and actual conversation. Dual POV's and a HEA ending.

Worth a credit? Well only if you're in the mood for a light, sweet, touching and fairly drama free listen about a couple who were thoughtful, considerate, patient and understanding of each other and who rarely fell out throughout their budding, blossoming and then fully bloomed love story. For me, I don't regret using a credit for this easy, well paced and drama-lite listen.

Sweet

Sweet and funny. Minimal angst with deep emotional character building. Narration was a bit dry at times but overall was ok.

Fun & Flirty

What You Need was a fun and flirty read filled with sweet and sexy moments. There was insta-chemistry and kinda a slow build but not a great burn. This was as hot and heavy as you may be used to for LJ but just as good.

The narration was spot on and was perfect to my ears. It was an enjoyable listen while working.

Engrossing Drama

What You Need is an engrossing romantic drama about Brady (32) and Lennox (28). While Brady is the CFO of his family's industrial empire, he is not the typical millionaire playboy so popular lately. No, he is kind, sometimes insecure, and not a man whore. Yea!

Lennox's strong and sassy character is also different from the vapid, easily manipulated wimps that have become equally popular since FSOG. Lennox survived an abusive and neglectful childhood, but doesn't wallow in the past or self-pity.

The author takes her time having them get to know each; there is instant attraction but not instant love or sexual relationship. There are normal bumps as they become closer, with the conflicts inherent in working at the same company and having opposite income levels.

I would have given this book a 5 star rating if there hadn't been talk about sexual control and Brady needing to be "in charge in the bedroom". I was relieved that Brady wasn't actually violent or degrading to Lennox, but it ruined the sensual scenes for me.

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫

I really enjoyed this sweet love story! It was fun and snarky. Brady and Lennox are pretty opposite. Brady is 32 and still trying to figure out who his is. Lennox had already lived the exciting life and is over it. I love that when they come together they don't really change but just have more confidence in who they are. The steamy scenes were definitely a little light for this author but still hot. I enjoyed the narration too!

Sweet love story

Would you listen to What You Need again? Why?

Yes if there are additional books in the series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of What You Need?

Lennox's confrontation with her mom in the lobby.

What does Lidia Dornet and Roger Wayne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Loved Lidia Dornet. She did a great job with both men and women. Didn't really care for Roger Wayne's female voice. Good job with men.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.
