Publisher's summary

Jason "Cobra" Stanley was born to fight. With a father like his, he had to toughen up just to survive. Now Cobra tries to take out all of his frustration, all of his anger, and all of his pain in the MMA cage. But after he receives one too many hits to the head during a match, the cycle of violence comes to a screeching halt. Cobra wakes up in the hospital, under the care of a nurse whose blond hair shines like a halo - and whose pure heart touches him on the deepest level.

Lorraine Bosch is a fighter too. The lone survivor of a chilling family tragedy, she prides herself on remaining professional, despite the chaos of the ER. But Cobra is the ultimate distraction. Lorraine knows she should run away screaming from his rippling muscles and shattered psyche. And yet how can she deny this broken man a second chance - especially since she knows exactly what he's been through? Lorraine's used to playing guardian angel. Now it's her turn to find heaven in Cobra's arms.

Great story

This audiobook was really intriguing and a bit different from the Caldwell brothers series, even though it was loosely related. Jason, the hero, is one of the MMA fighters who fought against Jagger in the previous books. He's had a sick relationship with his girlfriend Missy and decides that they aren't good for each other. During one of his fights he is hit over the head by his opponents team after he knocks him out and ends up in the hospital. There he meets Lorraine (or Lo) who is his nurse. After walking out of the hospital he can't stop thinking about her. She is living in a nightmare of the past and he tries to bring her away from that, though she's determined to find vengeance for her family. Together they learn how to let go of their pasts and look to the future together, but the villain that wreaked such horror on Lo's life returns. The ending is great and I can't say more or it will ruin it. This was a complex kind of story, especially the 'Hi' parts that could be confusing at first, but it's s great listen! Narration was excellent.

Amazing!!!

this was an incredible listen, I do have to admit the first few chapters were a little confusing and I was getting irritated because I kept getting lost between Hi and Lo but I am so happy that I stuck with the book and decided to finish. This was an amazing listen the passion between the characters was far beyond amazing. I loved how they both believed they were broken when they were with other people but when they came together they found themselves. Also I loved the epilogue, I'm so glad that the author ended on such a happy high note and didn't rush the ending

Loved Jason's story!!

Reading the Caldwell Series I was really hoping that this story would come.

I was not disappointed other than trying to find it was hard. Jason intrigued me in Jagger. I felt in my heart he really did have good in him and wondered if Missy wasn't what was causing him to lose his cool.

This is a hard cycle to break and this was a great depiction of the thought process from someone who has had to fight.

Great story.

Good story and performance

Good story and excellent performance. This author was new to me and won’t be my last. Both narrators weren’t new to me and they did not disappoint me. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend!

Visibly Broken

This story had a little bit of everything, it is thrilling, intriguing, suspenseful, all mixed in with beautiful romance. Two broken people helping each other put their broken pieces back together.
Cooper North and Lucy Rivers were Amazing narrators, they truly became these complex characters, and brought them to life. I enjoyed this story.

Great murder mystery romance

I like this author and her characters and dialogue. The story is essentially a murder mystery full of drama and suspense.

The male protagonist isn't typical for a romance novel. As shown in the related books in a series, He is an admitted abuser - he beat up his girlfriend multiple times in the past and then felt bad after. In this book, the author tries to excuse his behaviour by blaming the victim (as the girlfriend is genuinely awful and abusive herself) which is unsettling. He doesn't hit his girlfriend in this book. Other reviewers dismiss the book because of the way he and his girlfriend fight in the beginning (before he leaves her and finds the heroine) but I suggest if readers persist they will be rewarded with an insightful character study. There are reasons he is violent. He has triggers. He has uncontrollable rage until his environment changes and he is able to stop losing control.
