Publisher's summary

Eve

Two years ago, I made a deal with the devil. That night, I lost everything. That night, I thought he died.

But he's back. Risen, like Lazarus, from the dead. And he's dark. Darker than he was before. Dangerous. Unhinged. A scarred, tattooed savage.

The way he looks at me should terrify me, but I'm drawn to him, to his intensity. Consumed by it. By him. Even though I know if I'm not careful, his obsession will destroy me.

Zach

I should have died that night two years ago. My mistake cost my men their lives. It should have cost me mine. But I survived. And the day I learned she did too, I made it my mission to find her.

I sought her out. Tracked her. Shadowed her every move. I've been inside her house. Eaten her food. Drank her liquor. I've stood beside her bed and watched her sleep.

She has so many secrets, and I know one of them. It's the one where our pasts collided. The one that destroyed me.

And it's the reason I've come for her.

I never intended to touch her, but I did. And now that I've had a taste, I want more. I want her. But that won't change why I'm here. It won't change why I came for her.

Loved the characters

I have now listened to a few books by Knight and I find her ability to take action and suspense and then sprinkle it with the erotic scenes your hoping for. These narrators were both remarkable. I admit, I listened to this book back to back 3 times. The first listen was done accidentally in one sitting and when my clock said 8 I had trouble accepting it was 8:00 am. Definitely worth a credit. Thanks Knight for a great listen.

Dark and Delicious

Would you listen to Unhinged again? Why?
Yes and No. Yes, because the story sucked me right in and held me hostage, but also no, because it's darker than my normal books and that can be a little too heavy for me. I honestly really enjoyed this story though and didn't want to stop listening. I couldn't wait to unravel all the mysteries.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Unhinged?
When Zach calls her habibi and recognizes that he means it affectionately, as well as when Eve tells him that she is safest with him. They finally see that what they share goes beyond revenge and retribution. There was so much anger and confusion between them prior to that. Eve was fighting and protesting (though half heartedly) and Zach was still taunting her and playing games. They both started to heal and move forward once they let the other person in.

Have you listened to any of Michael Pauley and Tracy Marks ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to several books by Tracy Marks and one other title by Michael Pauley. I have enjoyed all of their performances and both narrators did a phenomenal job on Unhinged. Tracy Marks was amazing as Eve, but I also thought her male voices were fantastic as well. Michael Pauley was the perfect Zach and he brought an intensity to the character that truly made him seem unhinged.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, at the end when all the secrets have been revealed and the truths discovered. I don't want to give anything away, but it was an intense showdown and it had me on the edge of my seat.

Any additional comments?
I don't normally read a lot of dark romance/romantic suspense, but Natasha Knight continues to amaze me. Zach is an ultra alpha anti-hero and as much as I loved him, I also hated him. I also wish Eve had a little more backbone. She had her moments, but overall she was a little too damsel in distress for me. It worked though, since there was a lot of predator/prey and cat and mouse between Zach and Eve. It was both unnerving and incredibly sexy. Definitely recommend this audiobook!

Unbalanced by betrayal. Diabolic for revenge.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

My first Natasha Knight listen and she blew me away with her intricate plots and unique developed characters. Zach and Eve meet under tense and distrustful circumstances, while neither could afford to be completely honest. When a betrayal costs them both everything, revenge and quest for answers are all they have left.

Everyone in Zach’s unit was killed except him. He doesn’t know how or why he was spared. Years later he learns that Eve lived, too, and is living free under a new identity. Having no other explanation to the betrayal, Zach believes the culprit must be Eve and he plans his dark revenge.

And who can beat the duo of Tracy Marks and Michael Pauley for top notch suck-you-in narrations? Um... No one!

TWO WAVING, PUMPING THUMBS UP!

Dark and suspenseful!

Some books will resonate with you even after you have finished them, and Natasha Knight has succeeded with this story doing just that to me. The story of Zach and Eve in the prequel is one of sweet innocence, Eve having no idea what she is getting herself into. When Unhinged begins, all the sweetness has evaporated and Knight creates a dark, suspenseful romance around these two. The novel will grab your interest from the start and as the characters develop, it drags you into their world of terrorism, horror, fear and lust. There is even a hint of family wrapped up in the high intrigue of the book, keeping the twists and turns coming right up to the very last chapter. I do think that Betrayed should be read prior to the start of Unhinged. While it's not necessary, it does give the background to the relationship of these suffering souls.

With Zach, the dark alpha male narrated by the incredible Michael Pauley, it is impossible to feel every tortured emotion that he goes through. Tracy Marks narrating for Eve gives this character innocence as well as strength and passion. The journey these characters take is so well performed, your heart will ache and soar with each chapter you listen to.

In Love with the Amado Brothers!

“Unhinged” is the last in a three-book trilogy about the three Amado brothers, all of whom are sexy bad boys obsessively in love with their women.

Michael Pauley as the male narrator is always first-rate; you can actually feel the massive effort he puts into his voice performances. Amazing, sexy, raw, and full of energy!

Tracy Marks, on the other hand, drives me crazy. She is competent and believable as the female narrator. However, the extra syllable she adds at the end of about half of her words is incredibly distracting. For example, she pronounces “it” as “it-ah”, and “out” as “out-ah”. These are just two among countless examples. Ms. Marks would be so much more pleasant as a narrator without this idiosyncrasy.

Natasha Knight’s “Unhinged” is very dark — as her books generally are — and this one as the conclusion to the Amado brothers trilogy is not to be missed.

man I really liked this story! but...

but I can't stand it when the lead woman is so simpering and let's EVERYONE wal k all over her for the entire book. i spent this whole book pissed off for her waiting for her to snap back, but it never happens. Everyone basically uses her, drugs her, is hostile and down right abusive towards her, and she just takes it. AND then in the end, she wishes them all well... the only saving grace is that she FINALLY gets to shoot someone, but doesn't even kill them... grrr!!!!

Outstanding!

What a combination! I have loved reading books by Natasha Knight and listening to Tracy Marks and Michael Pauley, so this was outstanding. I thought the story kept me captivated from beginning to end. I will definitely listen to more books by both the author and narrators in the future, plus this one again. Too Unhinged

This one was just....eh, okay for me. It started out great but as the story went on, there were just too many things that were a tad on the unbelievable side for me.....and, it seemed every other word was unhinged every single time the main character was described. The narration was great, though at times, Michael Pauley’s voice for Zach was a bit too UNHINGED for my taste, but I know it was by design. Pauley and Marks did an excellent job with all of the character voices. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.
