Terrible, Terrible Narrator!

What I heard of this story was ok, but narrator was really, really bad! Her voice came off sounding like someone who should be narrating children's books or, worse yet, a little girl trying to read a grown-up story. Considering the nature of the material, it was quite disturbing. I was too grossed out to even finish.

Enjoyable

The story was cute. However the production of the story was awful. Sounded like in a tunnel or something.
The story itself was predictable but for 2 hours it covered most bases.

Good not Great.

I enjoy Lori Fosters book although I haven't read many, but she is a hit or miss kinda authur. This one was not one of her best but I still thought it was cute. For the price it was worth it. It also is part of a series, somewhere down the line. I didn't know this until after I read it.

Just meh

The story line was cute. I think it could have been covered better, shorter, but it was cute and since I was busy cleaning, I didn't mind the occasional drag. Do not confuse this story with reality, however. Those of you who have read it already recognize the incongruities; those of you who haven't, well, just suspend your belief systems and 'go' with it.

I agree the narrator was miscast; someone who sounds more mature may have been better. Although, I would have expected someone who sounded more mature to ACT like it instead of getting all weirded out by some of the plot situations. I think the narrator needs to practice her craft, though; to me she still sounds as though she's reading instead of talking the story. (Think Barbara Rosenblatt or Wil Wheaton and how it is more of a conversation on the couch rather than a speech from a podium.)

So, if you like this sort of romance, and you're looking for something to occupy you while you're weeding the garden or something peaceful (if you're in traffic you'll likely aim your impatience at the audiobook), I can recommend this. If you're more the type to insist on 'real' situations and character-driven stories instead of characters driven BY the story, then you may want to take a pass.

This was a great way of getting a handle on the author without spending big bucks, though.

Kind of like a cheerleader, cute but annoying

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Despite its short length, I enjoyed the story. It was nothing new, but it was entertaining.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked the heroine in this book. She was smart and sexy. The hero was a little dim, but he was likeable.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of S. K. Heaney?

Anyone besides this narrator would have been better. She sounded like a first grader with a slight lisp. After listening to the first paragraph, I was cringing. After listening to her for almost three hours, I was ready to scream.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

no

Raunchy but good

This is the first romance novel I've ever listend to or one could say even read. I'm not a reader and had a project for a class to analyze one of Harlequin publisher's romance novels. I had to have it done in 4 days. Not being a ready audible was my best bet. I was astonished at some of the words used but I still enjoyed the book very much. The ending was short and sweet but overall good, I just might listen to another book in my spare time. And unlike the last review I loved the narrator I thought she potrayed the characters very well. I enjoyed it even though I was suprised and understood why the teacher asked us to pick one of these books to analyze.

Narrator awful

I’ve listed to several other Lori Foster novels and thoroughly enjoyed them. I couldn’t get past the first chapter of this one because the narrator was so bad.

Cute Story but Terrible Narrator!

This was a very cute story. Short and more novella length, but a fast listen. The premise is unique. Harris, a firefighter, finds a box of notes and pictures of a beautiful naked woman at the site of a fire. He falls for the unknown lady in the pics not realizing they are his platonic BFF running buddy. She recognizes herself but does her best to keep him from finding out the truth.

My problem with this listen was the narrator. She had a very high voice and constantly was speaking in a very breathy voice. No way could she effectively do male voices. I felt like I was listening to nails scratching on chalkboards the whole time. In addition her little girl voice sounded like she was about twelve which made listening to the love scenes just downright creepy.
