Publisher's summary

Catherine Grier seemed to have it all - money, prestige, and a beach house that would rival the Hamptons. But an old scar buried deep in her soul hides a life filled with loneliness and painful memories...until a dusty old book lands in her lap, sending her back in time to 1767 and into the arms of Lord Bryne Adair.

Forced from his country on charges of treason, Bryne trusts no one, especially not the blue-eyed, blonde-haired anomaly claiming to be from the future. Unable to resist, he'll play her game to the end. He has nothing left to lose but his heart.

review

I liked the story, I wanted an engaging short story and this was perfect. The voices for some of the characters seemed odd, like the accent didn't match the over all story, but it was not too distracting.

Romantic, feel good book <3

I was not sure what to expect, but the story was excellent! It kept me interested and I caught myself smiling several times throughout the book. I even chuckled at one point. It is a great, feel good book. And the author, Ann Stiller is very descriptive. I found myself imagining what Catherine, the main character, was feeling at the moment. From suspense, to anger and of course the obligatory, butterflies in the stomach.

The narrator gave specific voices for each character. Sometimes that can be a challenge, but Laura Copland did not waver or cross the voices of the characters. The male characters had differing tones and pitches which helped the imagination.

It's a cute story that I would recommend!

Romantic story!

I didn't know what to expect but really enjoyed the story. It was a good story and got to the point quickly, it didn't leave you guessing. Can't wait to read more from this author.

Not worth finishing.

The first thing I noticed were the exaggerated voices for certain characters. I was willing to give that a pass, but as the story continued it was clear voices weren't the only over the top part of this book! (maybe you could argue the narrator did a GOOD job matching the feeling of the book, lol) All the characters were extreme versions of their stereotype and one-dimensional. The events were similarly extreme. You would hardly tell what time period she had traveled to, if not said directly. Sometimes she acted like she was 800 years in the past, not 250! I finally told myself I had to stop trying to read when she told her male counterpart (someone who had just ordered someone to hanged) that murder and assault is worse in the 21st century.
