Publisher's summary

A three day excursion turns into a nightmare when a rogue wave washes the passengers overboard, leaving Ian and Sierra scrambling for survival. Sparks ignite as they wait for a rescue, but will a secret keep them apart?

Billionaire Ian Shaw can have everything he wants - except a happy ending. Or at least that's what it feels like with his fortune recently liquidated, his niece, Esme, still missing, and the woman he loves refusing to speak to him. In fact, he doubts she would date him even if they were stranded on a deserted island.

Despite her love for Ian, Sierra Rose knows he has no room in his life for her as long as the mystery of his missing niece goes unsolved. The only problem is, Sierra has solved it, but a promise to Esme to keep her whereabouts secret has made it impossible to be around Ian.

When the PEAK chopper is damaged and Sierra lacks the funds to repair it, Ian offers a fundraising junket for large donors on his yacht in the Caribbean. But the three-day excursion turns into a nightmare when a rogue wave cripples the yacht and sends the passengers overboard. Shaken up and soaked to the bone, Ian finally has a chance to test his theory when he and Sierra do indeed find themselves washed up on a strange, empty shore.

It will take guts and gumption for the PEAK team to rescue the duo. But it will take a miracle to rescue Ian and Sierra's relationship.

Real adventure and romance

Real adventure, and romance. Fun to read and listen too. Never knew what was happening next. I read the book when I had time and listened on Audible while I drove or exercised. A great book to combine reading and listening to. The adventure takes you from Montana to the Caribbean from horseback to a luxurious yacht. From a hospital to a rescue chopper. Good life lessons included all in all a great book. More please!

Intense

Really intense complicated plots intertwined in this one. It dragged somewhat because of this. Less drama, hopefully, in future stories.

Wasted credit

I selected this book based on high ratings and wish I had not. Story line was okay but could have been better if the “water adventures” were more realistic. So many whiners that ran from any hint of a problem. Big disappointment.

good book

This book has a good story line, but kind of drawn out. Too much voicing of characters thoughts and not enough action/doing.

No character development

I didn’t know what was going on often and In my opinion there was no dimension to any of the characters

Characters’ willingness to change and grow.

I like the positive message: search and rescue work and an understanding that a higher power is at work in everyone’s life. I am distressed, however, by the southern accents. I have family who live where the SAR base is located, and I don’t know anyone there who speaks with a southern accent. There’s even a character in the book from New York who has a southern twang! I wish that could be fixed. I do appreciate that there are no heavy sex scenes and no swearing. The characters are a lot like the people I know and live around,

Great story

Troubled Waters is another great book in the series! In typical fashion, Ms Warren takes the listener on a fascinating journey! This journey is filled with suspense, intrigue, surprises, and Christ!
Several of the characters think God has given up on them, or have no faith in God!
Our God is patient, loving , and waiting to bring the characters back into His loving arms.
Overall a fantastic book!!

Really good!

Susan May’s imagination is terrific! The realistic details are great! I liked the way the “Troubled Waters” phrase came out at the very end.

As for the narrator, I wish these books had a male narrator too... I will say, I liked her western accent for Jess and Sierra. 😊

A dichotomy, at best . . .

Troubled Waters has a good base of intrigue. Unfortunately the characters, especially the female ones, are whiny, insecure, and jump to conclusions way too fast. They all seem to think that somehow they are not "worthy" of God's love, which causes them to make decisions that get them into trouble. The book needs to be edited better for overuse of terms like "epic" and phrases that should have been edited out of the book and substituted with new ones. The narration is annoying as the characters are given ridiculous southern accents, even when they are from Montana. Yes, this has been Susan May Warren's style throughout this series and the Christiansen Family series and after every book I read I ask myself why I am purchasing the next one. Each of the stories are suspenseful and easy to read, and maybe I wouldn't notice the things that stick out like a sore thumb in the Audible version if I was reading a print copy of the books. Ms. Warren, please consider the reviews that offer similar criticism of your books and revisit the editing and narration. People keep writing them but nothing changes.

Action and emotion

Susan May Warren brings her trademark suspense, nonstop action and deep characters to this story of a fund-raising junket gone bad and worse and worser (if that were a word). Warren gives the characters no time to relax as one problem after another force deep looks into themselves and their lives. When you’re left with nothing, all that’s left is God-and that’s not a bad thing.
