Publisher's summary

A new dark romance from New York Times best-seller Anna Zaires.

He came to me in the night, a cruel, darkly handsome stranger from the most dangerous corners of Russia. He tormented me and destroyed me, ripping apart my world in his quest for vengeance.

Now he's back, but he's no longer after my secrets.

The man who stars in my nightmares wants me.

LOVE it but now what...cliffhanger alert

What did you love best about Tormentor Mine?

I love that the story started out dark and it never stopped. There was glimpses of light through the way that Peter cared for Sara and the way that their relationship developed in the story but overall the storyline is dark. The book tugs at your heartstrings and makes you feel for both characters from the very beginning and pulls you in. This is my first Anna Zaires book and I will be going back to get more of hers after this one.

Have you listened to any of Tracy Marks and Sebastian York ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love both of these narrators however this is the first Sebastian York performance that I have listened to where he has used an accent. Overall I think he did a good job trying a Russian accent. It did fade at times but it didn't distract me from the story overall and I wouldn't doc any stars from it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

While I wanted to listen to this in 1 sitting I wasn't able to listen to it in 1 sitting due to having little ones. I listened to it in 2 sittings on a Saturday. I devoured every minute of it and couldn't put it down.

Any additional comments?

CLIFFHANGER alert and book 2 is not out yet so you can't even read the book if you wanted to so for those who don't like cliffhangers and unresolved storylines you may want to wait until book 2 is out later this year. I myself can't wait until book 2 is out to hear "the rest of the story".

SPECTACULAR STORYTELLING

Absolutely compelling from the start.. this psychologically dark story consumed my free hours, my busy hours and the hours I was meant to be asleep.. because where could I have stopped, paused or broken the wicked torment? Could it of been when Peter Sokolov, the heartbroken Russian Assassin, prayed, through his agony and rage, for a miracle as he frantically searched the mutilated pile of bodies for his little family?.. nope no way. Could it have been when, a few years and bodies later, innocent Dr. Sara Cobakis was brutally tortured by Peter for her husband’s whereabouts because he’d sworn revenge and retribution on all involved?.. OMG it was tense and, again, no way.. not even close. Well could it have been when Peter’s irrational obsession with Sara took a devastating turn for her when the dangerous sexy alpha suddenly infiltrated her life spinning it off it’s axis into a nightmare of emotional turmoil as she battled terror, guilt, loss, a feeling of wrongness, shame, self-loathing, want, need and lust?.. nope, not a chance of stopping it now.

And, as Peter’s sick fantasy world played out, he pampered Sara, became her protector, spoilt and tempted her.. and had created a dark relationship forged from death, violence, vengeance, heartbreak and pain.. but he had also become the Monster Sara feared most of all. Because, behind the sweet words and tender feelings Peter had for Sara, this wanted Assassin, and his team, were international killers for hire.. they were at the top of the food chain.. and he was dragging Sara into his dangerous world.

Spectacular writing by Anna Zaires because she instantly drew me in then insanely provoked feelings of empathy and love for the orphan, the grief-stricken father, the guilt-ridden widower and even the cold-blooded Assassin within this multi-layered hot anti-hero. She had me on a rollercoaster of feels as the strong but powerless heroine was mind fkd, fkd and worshipped over and over again. The pace and painting of the unfolding story was perfect, the sex scenes were hot and, IMO, it thankfully never reached dark enough to get uncomfortable. I’m so glad it was told in dual POVs and that two very talented and much loved narrators got to bring these characters, and their journey, to life.

Worth a credit? Well, I think you know what my answer’s gonna be.. but, if there’s any doubt, I’m mentally standing, clapping and shouting “YES... YES... YES”.. but I’m also pulling my hair out as I scream “OH NO... NO... NO” because this is a Trilogy folks.

So disappointing. Not a good female match for Sebastian York

Is Tracy Marks on speed?? The cadence of her speech is so annoying I had to stop listening after 4:21 minutes. I really hate that I had to stop. Sebastian York is my all-time favorite narrator and his voice is amazing in Chapter 1. As much as I love York I just can’t “torment” myself with listening to Marks for another second. I can’t say anything about the story as I didn’t have a chance to become invested in it.

Captivating!

Anna Zaires did it again! Once again, I have fallen in love with another series and two more characters.

Peter and Sara's story hooked me from page 1 and never stopped. I think this may be my favorite set of characters that Zaires has written.

I truly enjoyed both performers, and would listen to more of their work. Narrators can easily make or break a story, and these two truly brought it to life.

Obsessive Stalker Much?

This is my first Anna Zaires book and I'm now searching her catalogue because I'm hoping this is the first of many. Both Sarah and Peter were dealing with a lot pain and anguish and they were both just trying to come out on the other side. Peter had a darkness driving him and Sarah was searching for the light -- match made in heaven right? Their shared connections should have made them coupling a no go from the start but some people don't accept no for an answer. Although the story continues, it doesn't leave with a cliffhanger that keeps you awake at night wondering what happens next. It's the kind of cliffhanger that leaves you curious and intrigued about how this story will end.

The narration was really good. I liked that Sebastian York actually tried with an accent, albeit a slight Russian accent (which is what the story called for) that seemed to appear and disappear at will. I loved listening to this story so much that I give the performance 5 stars even if it was flawed.

Absolutely worth a credit plus more. Anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

Couldn’t Get Past Marks’ Performance

What I heard was great story wise, but Tracy Marks has this jarring, halting way of narrating that seriously grated on my nerves. It feels like her part was recorded at 1.5 speed. I ended the torment (ha!) at 4:20. York is awesome as always, but his Russian accent isn’t up to par with his usual flawless performances (he rolls some r’s for example and not others) and the constant relapses back into an American accent kept me from that immersive experience we all know and love. Regardless, I would have listened even with that small flaw but I just couldn’t hang with Marks. Yikes.

Epic Story

If you could sum up Tormentor Mine in three words, what would they be?

Hot Russian Spy

What other book might you compare Tormentor Mine to and why?

NA

Have you listened to any of Tracy Marks and Sebastian York ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I buy a lot of Sebastian Yorks books. First time listening to Tracy Marks.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it was.

Any additional comments?

I really loved this book. Sebastian York is stellar as always. Even with a slight Russian accent his voice is pure silk, 5 stars all the way. THAT being said, Tracy Marks was just OK for me. She reads her part WAY TOO FAST. When she started reading her first chapter I literally grabbed my iPhone and checked the reading speed thinking it had somehow got set to 125% reading speed instead of the regular 100%. She really needs to slow down. Since this was my 1st book narrated by her I'm not sure if this is her usual speed of reading or not. It was as if there was a time limit to how long she had to read. (Maybe there was, IDK). Unless she pairs with SY again, I probably won't listen to one another one of her books! It was that annoying for me! If this team reads the next book in the series I will definitely buy/listen. It's worth putting up with the way-too- fast reading by TM to listen to the soothing voice of SY. Just sayin'!

Horrible narration by Tracy Marks. Torture!!!

Sebastian York was great as usual in chapter 1. Didn’t make it halfway through chapter 2 with Tracy’s high speed robotic narration. It sounded like a text to speech program sped up x10. Even Siri is more human sounding. I’d like to think its a great story but I wouldn’t know since I refused to subject myself to the horrible narration. Worst Ive ever heard honestly. What a shame.

Are you kidding me??

I'm going to stop listening to new releases so someone else can be the unlucky soul who gets hit with a CLIFFHANGER without knowing.

So, cliffy aside... this book had me at opening credits. Scorned Russian falling in love with the enemy, potential danger and a hostage situation. What is there lot to love? I positively loved it.

Sebastian York with a slight Russian accent didn't hurt the situation and then you add in old reliable, Tracy Marks and it was a match made in heaven.

Worth more than a credit.
