Publisher's summary

Twelfth century England: Two men vie for the throne: King Stephen the usurper and young Duke Henry the rightful heir. Amid civil and private wars, alliances are forged, loyalties are betrayed, families are divided, and marriages are made.

For four years, Lady Annyn Bretanne has trained at arms with one end in mind - to avenge her brother's murder as God has not deemed it worthy to do. Disguised as a squire, she sets off to exact revenge on a man known only by his surname, Wulfrith. But when she holds his fate in her hands, her will wavers and her heart whispers that her enemy may not be an enemy after all.

Baron Wulfrith, renowned trainer of knights, allows no women within his walls for the distraction they breed. What he never expects is that the impetuous young man sent to train under him is a woman who seeks his death - nor that her unveiling will test his faith and distract the warrior from his purpose.

Wonderful Story of Forgivenes and Love

This is my first book by this author and I’m sure it won’t be my last. I have to admit that I started and restarted this book 2 times within the first chapter before I continued further. I think it was the narration, as it took me a while to get into her rhythm of speaking. But, I’m glad I didn’t give up.

Steeped in history, this is a truly gripping story that is filled with heartfelt characters. It is a believable story that deals with family conflicts, revenge, and forgiveness. It moves along at a good pace and definitely holds interest throughout. Both the main characters, Annyn and Garr, have well developed personalities that draw you in to their world. Their romance is engaging, challenging, and so very sweet.

This story has “Christian” elements which gives dimension to the personalities of the main characters. These moral “standards” increased understanding of the character's motivations which added to the believeability within that time period in history.

If you enjoy history, heartfelt strong characters, engaging story, and romance (no detailed sex) then this one is worth a credit. I will definitely be ordering the next in this series.

Refreshing! Romance without Porn.

It's rare to find a Romance Novel not filled with pornographic detail! Refreshing! And to have great interesting historical characters to boot. This is first book I read by this author and am going to order another as soon as I finish this review.

Revenge Belongs to God

Where does The Unveiling rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among the top.

What did you like best about this story?

I like books that are clean, no foul language or sexual content, and believe it or not, this one proves that great books can be written without all of that. I love the twists and turns throughout the book as well as at the end. Kept me guessing the entire time and never saw the outcome. I really enjoyed this book.

What about Mary Sarah Agliotta’s performance did you like?

I really like her accent and the fact that she made each character different, as opposed to just reading the book. It did take me some time to get used to her accent, but once I did, I just couldn't wait to get back to it. I have listened to it more than once and will probably listen to it again. Just got the second book in the series and can't wait to get wrapped up in that one. If it's half as good as the first one, I will be thrilled.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several, but if I stated them, I might be giving something away and I don't like spoilers.

Any additional comments?

If you like good, clean books, you will love this one. Yes they do say prayers to God in their hearts and minds and look to Him for guidance but there are no sermons, which wouldn't bother me but might some. I think I have found a new author, if her other books are as good as the first one. If you don't like it, you have the option of exchanging it for something else. I assure you, this one will stay in my library. Thank you Tamara Leigh and please keep writing the same type of books.

not what I expected

The reader talks fast and mumbles, the plot is slow. it starts off like Pillars of the Earth, but slows to such a crawl that I'm still in the kitchen in chapter 5. i couldn't finish this novel.

Poor performance makes it useless

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Better performance: clear diction, and a more even delivery. The narrator swallowed her words as they were delivered making the story difficult to understand.

What was most disappointing about Tamara Leigh’s story?

The narration.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mary Sarah Agliotta?

Not sure.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The historic setting was attractive.

Any additional comments?

Very sorry I downloaded this book.

Thoroughly enjoyable

I found this story very entertaining. I liked the plot. Good tension and obvious attraction between Annyn & Garr but no sex.

I really enjoyed this book. Normally I listen to book with a little more spice.... But this book was tastefully done and kept my interest. I felt connected to the world and characters. Nice start to a great series
