Publisher's summary

Sophie Wells is a successful photographer with a focus on putting the past firmly behind her. When Josh Strachan returns to the seaside town of Cornwall from the States to run his family's hotel, he can't understand why the fun, sexy girl has zero interest in letting him--or any man, for that matter--into her life. He also can't understand how he's been duped into employing Sophie's impulsive friend, Tula, whose crush on him is decidedly unrequited.

Both girls remain mum about the reasons behind Sophie's indifference to love. But that doesn't mean Josh is going to quit trying.

Loved the story, not the narrator

I've read, or listened to, all of Jill Mansell's books and I really like her style of writing. Although predictable at times, she delivers a good quality British chick-lit story & never disappoints.

I've never heard a narrator of Mansell's books that I didn't like - until now. This narrator's voice droned on in a very boring fashion, and some of her voices for the characters were not good at all. At one point a male & female couple both had some bizarre Irish-sounding accent that made it hard to tell one from the other (although it hadn't started out that way). She did, however, capture the American accent very well (something that doesn't always happen). I won't purchase any other audiobook with this narrator because instead of drawing you into the story, her voice was very distracting.

Enjoyable stories.

I enjoyed reading about the various characters. I liked the happy romantic endings. There were no detailed sex scenes other than one referred to but nothing shown.

AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:
I’d prefer a different narrator. Beverly Crick used a cockney and/or Irish accent for some characters. It bothered me. I love some British accents, but not these.

Normally I like Jill Mansell, but this book......

In all fairness, I am in Chapter 25 of 58 but so far this book is ALL OVER THE PLACE. The narration, well I've heard better. The story is so all over the place that I'm having a hard time trying to figure out who's story they are on and who the characters are that are conversing.

I sure hope it gets better.....

Well, I've finished this book and still feel the same. There were so many different story lines that it was really difficult to keep up, a lot of the characters all sounded the same, and some of the accents were so EXAGGERATED that it was painful to listen to.

Warm and Fuzzy

Super cute light read. Somewhat predictable. Loved the characterizations. Would recommend for anyone who needs a laugh or a smile.

Charming characters. Thank you again to Jill Mansell

Jill Mansell writes many-layered, charming characters that you want to get to know and that you come to love. The characters in this book do not disappoint.

If I have a criticism of this novel, it is that the all the loose threads come to gather a little bit too sweetly, all the uncertainty resolves with very pat answers.

Beverly Crick’s narration is paced properly for the story and she differentiates male and female voices well. The dialogue is sometimes difficult to follow when characters of the same gender are bantering rapidly...but in those cases it rarely matters which one said what.

I wholeheartedly recommend anything by Jill Mansell.
