Publisher's summary

AD 1258 - As Henry III spends most of his time in France, focused on his French favorites, powerful English barons, including Simon de Montfort, begin to form an alliance against him. Rising to power in this dark and uncertain time is the House of de Shera, headed by Gallus de Shera, Earl of Coventry and Lord Marshal of Worcestershire. Gallus is flanked by his brothers Maximus and Tiberius, forming a circle of strength that cannot be broken. All know and fear the mighty de Shera brothers.

When Gallus de Shera is pressured to enter into a marital contract with the eldest daughter of Hugh Bigod, another powerful warlord, he balks at the suggestion, but is resigned to the fact that he has little choice, as the mighty Bigod family would make strong family relations. But before the contract can take place, a fortuitous moment in time sees him rescue a Welsh daughter of royal blood. The Lady Jenniver Tacey ferch Gaerwen is the daughter of kings, and Gallus is instantly entranced with the raven-haired lass. When Jenniver's father is mortally wounded, he begs Gallus to marry his daughter. Unable to refuse a dying man's request, Gallus accepts. Although he knows he must face Hugh Bigod at some point over the fact that he is no longer an eligible bachelor, he has no remorse, all he can focus on is his new bride - and a powerful love story is born.

Join Gallus and Jenniver as they embark on a new life together, where the English barons would see their marriage torn apart even as they rebel against Henry III. It is an epic journey of politics, betrayal, hatred, and ultimately, a timeless passion between Gallus and Jenniver. This is the exciting first audiobook of a three-book trilogy.

Loved this story!!!!!!!!!

Please continue writing your books. This was a breath of fresh air. I have read hundreds of books and I must tell you this story was wonderful. I laughed, I cried, and at times forgot where I was or what was happening around me as I was so pulled in to the story. Loved it!

Thunder Rolls!!!

Would you listen to The Thunder Lord again? Why?

Great read!! This is a hard book to put down. Wow what a great first book in this Trilogy. I enjoyed the interaction between the three brothers. The story captivates from the beginning and keeps on going all the way until the end. I experienced the whole range of emotions while reading this amazing book from grief of lost love to the unfound joy of new love as the brother’s display honest and loyalty to family, country and their friends. Kathryn Le Veque has such a talent for drawing you immediately into the story and keeping you riveted until the last page. This first story was of Gallus de Shera and Jeniver and it just drew me in page after page. The eldest of the de Shera brothers, Gallus de Shera, Earl of Coventry who has never dealt with his grief from his first wife's death, meets our heroine, the Lady Jeniver Gaerwen under tragic circumstances and ends up marrying her at the bidding of his mother, Lady Honey. The story draws from England’s tumultuous history during the reign of King Henry III and his power struggle with Simon de Montfort, there is much intrigue and scheming going on through the story as the de Shera brothers are fierce defenders and supporters of their cause. Kathryn Le Veque enraptured me with all three brothers throughout the entire story.

What about Gethyn Edwards’s performance did you like?

He did an amazing job with the characters and the story line!!!

Great Start To A New Series

KLV is my all time favorite author. I am never disappointed with her books. They have an element of history (some books more than others) as the backdrop, and I am drawn to that. However, the stories are unique within themselves and Gallus and Jenniver's is no different. You will enjoy their story and how their romance develops. This is the first book of the Lords of Thunder Trilogy.

Gethyn Edwards is a new narrator for me and I enjoyed it.

Brilliant narration by Gethyn Edwards

Having a narrator as brilliant as Gethyn Edwards had given this first book an added dimension in the brutal medieval politics, making it all more interesting to listen after reading about Gallus and his brothers.

Fabulous story & performance, a little short at the end.

Loved the narrator, loved the story line as well. I felt the love storyline lost its significance towards the end, not in substance but in detail. This story was wonderfully written, it just needed more detail (and a couple more love scenes wouldn't have hurt;)) I adore Le Veque's novels, she's a true talent!

Great story

Kathryn is gravely becoming one of my favorite authors. I have read several of her books and this trilogy may just be my favorite of them all. I can't wait for the other two books! This was my first time listening to Gethyn and must say that I was not very pleased with his narrator voice of the females but he did a good job otherwise.

Another Le Veque Winner

Have been so excited with these audio versions of my Favorite author! Kathryn is so talented. You want to leap into the pages to feel, taste and smell the environments, the experience is totally immersive! Other writers leave me incomplete or completely tuned out. With LeVegue the large complement of characters are skillfully woven into a read that keeps me reading straight through till I finish in one night. Keep it up Kathyrn!

Even better than usual!

I am a huge Kathryn Le Veque fan having read 12-15 of her novels and listened to almost that many in audible form. The THUNDER LORD followed her usual formula and then improved upon it. To me, this novel contained more history than most Le Veque novels and I loved it. I don't throw around my stars lightly so consider this a AAA+ rating.

Loved it!!

This is another brilliantly written story by Kathryn and the narrator did a great job. It had delightfully funny, nail biting, loving and adventures throughout the book. I think any of her books could be made into a super movie. They would rival Outlander.

Superb!

The storyline is so vey engaging, to read a story with Christopher de Lohr’s youngest daughter and her powerful sons was just wonderful! Never a dull moment, even de Wolfe shows up! The narration is sublime. I wish LeVeque would Gethyn Edwards to narrate more, he’s fabulous and the change in narration sometimes would be exciting and new. You must read this exciting trilogy!
